Hi

I'm trying to remove the accelerator pedal.

I've un bolted it but how does the cable come out, with out breaking it ?

I want to get the pedal off to bend it, cause with the carpet in place I only get 88% of full throttle when fully depressed

Stop !!!!!!!!!! before you pull the cable out make sure you tye something to the end of it and pull that through with it so you can put the new cable back through, it can be a sod to pull the cable through due to the way it is routed and can get snagged just be carefull, good luck

I've put a tie rap round the ball on the engine side so it carnt slip inside the outer case.

I've just removed the pedal stop bracket and it's free up more cable. I can now see the top of the pedal better. It looks like its glued in ?

On the top of the peddle arm there is a slot which the cable goes through if it is tight you might have to open it out slightly hope that helps done mine a while back with peddle in situ was a right pig of a job

Mine was rusted solid, but after "persuading" the old brass pin out of the peddle the rust cracked out and I could widen the gap enough with a flat head screwdriver for the cable to drop through.

You can actually see the hole into the engine bay if your upside down ( remove the grommet first ) so you can easily feed it into the bay, it loops around the underside of the dash before the hole ( so at first it looks like the cable goes down the inside of the wing... but it doesn’t just loops down a little into the wing and then back out to the hole.

There is one other cable.. I’m sure someone knows what it does! That goes through the hole as well.

You have to re-tighten the peddle juuuust enough so it can freely return with the cam spring when you lift off the accelerator.

Probably unnecessary... but I filled my new cable with GT85 and pumped grease an at either end to stop crap getting inside the cable, also both cam mech's etc.. if you remove the link between the banks it makes it much easier to adjust the throttle cable at the Cam.

Hell of a difference once done though!
