My Cerbera 4.5 AJP8 Has yet another problem|

Can anyone advise weather my starter motor sound bust or could it be a loose wire?

When I press the ignition switch the starter makes a screeching noise and barley turns over, and then catches, its only just started doing it ?

Scotty check all the earths but expect it to need a new starter.

They are not great at best.

I would try changing the solenoid and gear first. Cheaper option.

Scotty forgot about this thread sorry, yes the solenoid is usually the culprit as it sticks with the heat, but I just decided to have a replacement & have the old one refurbed @Universal windings & have a spare. Having said that you might want to renew the earths as i have done also fit a relay at the solenoid ? maybe overkill but no fun when your at the petrol station & clunk whirr clunk ... it feels as though the whole of the forecourt look across & shake their headsrolleyeslaugh

That's ok............appreciate all the advice. I would give it ago my self but there is a few things on the car that need doing, like the steering wheel has play in it, the aircon is blowing warm and they said the car is running on 6 cylinders! its not major work but it having the time to do it.

They seem pretty genuine down a Topcats so hopefully it won't cost too much!
I know the feeling been in the garage forecourt was in there today and the starter made a major screeching noise and clunk and took a few goes to start eventually a big roar and she fired up! laughlaugh
