Hello, unfourtunately I have moved to the city center of London, and I find it very difficult to manage to drive around here especially since I am a foreigner...
And since Im going to move back to Norway in descember I have decided to let my great love go... It is too expensive to bring it back to Norway, I have to pay 35000£ to the Norwegian government in taxes and fees, can u believe that, just to get it registered with a Norwegian plate.....

So I have checked around, I may post it in autotrader and here at the classifieds, but I still wonder if there is an easier way, I found an advert in the auttrader where there is somthing called The sports and specialist car center which buy used TVRs is that a smart thing? I will sell the car to a very good price since I am forced to sell it....

I am thankful to any contribution

Most dealers will buy it off you as long as it's not a complete dog but they will be offering quite a bit lower than any private sale value, it's worth popping into your nearest dealer and asking the question so you know what you'll get 'worst case'
Then when your deadline is getting close if it's not already gone start dropping the private sale price as long as you get more than the dealer offer your ahead

Sports and Specialist is up in sunny Yorkshire. I don't know anything about them but they do seem to have a fair amount of tvr's normally.

As you know you've got a few months to sell it in, I'd go for a private sale, you'll get several £k more that way.

To me, dealers are only any good for selling your car to if:

1. It's such a dog noone'd touch with a pointy stick
2. You're buying another car off the same dealer
3. You need a really quick sale
4. You have so much money it's not worth your time

Get it on Autotrader and PH now, you have nothing to loose. I reckon you have more chance with autotrader , as there are so many on PH right now the customer choice is massive.

You could also try the classic 'For Sale' poster in the window of the motor - you might just tempt one of those admirers

Isn't it great to be outside the EU and have your own currency - NOT!

How about subtly mentioning you're thinking of selling it on a TVR Cerbera chat forum?

First of all thanks for all contibutions, then I have a second question, My love is a 96mod 4.2 cerb British racing green 39.000miles on the clock, all the uprights have been done and the replacement of clutch and cams has been done, new exhaust and tyres (16") and there is adjustable suspension (dont know if this is standard equipment) full service history, re-trim of roof and doorpanels black and off white, and a
800£ stereo fitted last service at 36000miles, HPI check everything is good except a small leak in one of the hoses to the hydraulic steering fluid and under extreme rain there is a minor leak in the footwell I only explored it once but, but just so I have mentioned it I heard this is quite normal problem with the cerb...

So what is a good price?

between 15 and 16£ ?

Sorry for such a stupid question but I just dont know, tried to figure it out from what I have seen at the classifieds and autotrader, but prices vary so much...

Thanks again for all help...

I'd put it in autotrader at £16,495 to start with and probably accept something around the £15,500 mark if necessary.

Hi, Norwegian....sorry to hear that you sell your beauty...We had a chat once on the parking lot of O2 Centre about a 9 months ago, where I asked you plenty of questions and envied you.
Moved away from the UK as well....all the best...

And guys and gals, the car really looked stunning!

Best way to sell is get your mom to get insured on it and let her take it off you... a week later... you'll be a good sum richer.... (as long as she aint a motorhead that is)....

Folks, what do people think about the dealer - sale or return option?

Instead of the dealer paying cash for your car, they display it on a sale or return basis, i.e. you agree a price, they add on their percentage, and they try to sell it for you. If it sells then great, if not they just give it back.

Not sure how many dealers do this but certainly aware of a few of the independents who do.

This, theoretically at least, should be a way to get more for your car from a dealer, and even though the dealer will make less profit than if they had just paid you cash, your car adds to their stock list, which brings in more buyers etc.

Anyone done this?

gixxer.

I sold my Cerb Speed Six thorugh Henley Heritage a few years ago using this method.

I droppped it off on the Friday and they sold it witin a week. It was a lovely spec though and low mileage.

Suited me to sell it this way as I didnt have enough time to have people coming around etc.
