Simple Alarm Question
Discussion
Hi,
Just picked the TVR up from having some work done - lovely job, will write about that separately. All is good but just put her to bed for the night and the alarm fob doesn't do anything - thought this might have been a dicky battery but the spare one doesn't work either. Had a nosey around the obvious places and spotted this that I don't think I've noticed before. Seems pretty clear that behind the helmet hole the connector is detached - I was going to reconnect but then thought better of it seeing as my neighbours wouldn't be too happy if it then triggered the alarm and the fob won't then disarm. Also noticed a couple of other disconnections in the boot - not sure where they are off or are meant to be related to, I had a feel around the back of all the control boxes but nothing seems to be missing anything. I would call the garage but it's a bit late now, so I thought I'd ask the 24hr internet...oh, and the immobiliser never worked so I don't think it is anything to do with that
Suggestions anyone?

Cheers
Joe

The two lower circles are off a pioneer cd multichanger and are nothing to worry about. The upper plug is the reason your alarm is not working (thats the main power loom) however the immobiliser is not part of this control box and is capable of working without the main alarm. Though im gussing it may of been bypassed also as the car wouldn't start if the immobiliser was not working.
i would try plugging the alarm back in as its unlikley to do any harm to see if the fobs respond, as you could then at least lock the car. (if the alarm is working the siren will probably sound at this point - so probably best not do it now :-)

Thanks, the CD stuff I'm not that interested in - haven't even switched the stereo on, just had the window open all day....
I'll try plugging the loom back in the morning - if the siren goes off, and the fobs don't silence it is there a quick way to shut the siren down? presumably the siren has a reserve power supply so that just unplugging it again will not silence it. How long am I likely to annoy my neighbours for? Would it be better to unplug the battery first, plug the loom back in then reconnect battery?
So many questions for so late at night. Although if the fobs have lost their connectivity to the alarm then I'm a bit stuffed anyway I guess.
Cheers
