I'm tidying up the interior and one thing that's bugged me since I got the Cerb is the steering colum cover/trim. Mine seems to be a terrible fit and very loosely hangs beneath the column - it almost looks like it's on back to front. I'm not sure how it's supposed to look and where it attaches so any pics would be much appreciated.

Since looking in detail at that whole area I've established that the pipe attached to the vent nearest to the right foot isn't actually attached to anything on the other end! I can't seem to find where it should attach, is it obvious?

Bump - Actually not a good idea as the steering column trim could fall off at any minute smile

Anybody able to take a quick pic of the underside of their steering column so I can see how it should look, I'd be very grateful

Mark.

Will see if I can get a chance tomorrow for you - working at home then.

Might have to give another bump as a reminder wink

I removed mine as I was looking to see where a blast of cold air was coming from and discovered that a flixi pipe was missing that connects to the vent on the steering column cover.

I will take a picture and post it. It fits pretty tight when it's in place.

Thanks guys

Nothing urgent it's just been bugging me for ages and I've no idea how it should look, I just know it doesn't look or fit right!

2 butterfly screws hold it in place, one on the top lerft hand side next to steering column/consul (see bottom left of picture)and one on the bottom right hand side. The screw thread for this one is fixed to the car body and you tighten it with the butterfly screw head.(top right hand side of picture).

Picture shows how it goes on

Roghly hand held in place.

Cheers George, much appreciated.

Mine appears to be on the right way round which is a start (I wasn't sure if it was!). The connection top left is firmly in place but that seems to be the only place it's properly attached. There's nothing holding it in place bottom right. Seems strange that it's not secured in all four corners but there you go, another piece of great design!

I'll have a closer look at the bottom right to see if I can re-attach it. At the very least I've managed to re-attach the hose to the blower by the right knee and established that the blower by the right foot is not attached to anything. Once I've taken it off completely I'm sure I'll work out which hoses need to attach to where.

Thanks again

FUBAR, mine certainly didn't have a vent there ('97 4.2). Also, mine was just held on by a single piece of velcro!

Really? That's something I didn't know. Maybe because both vents had no hose attached!
