Ok. I feel the front numberplate on my cerbera is in rather a stupid place considering the overheating problems that they can have. What I want to know is, where is yours?

On the front... wink

...and they shouldn't overheat unless there is a problem somewhere else. They certainly get hot though.

I'm is where is is supposed to be. Although smaller. I have a private plate with five numbers/letters so I cut it down smaller. Although is technically illegal but uses the same font and size as a normal plate but has reduced sides.

I would personally look into why the car is overheating then just the size of the number plate.

I know there are plenty of possibilities but have you investigated them all.

Chances are it is a poor temp guage reading rather than overheating. stupid routing of capiliary etc.

I have fixed mine a couple of times... My worst reading on the temp guage is...... 60 PSI!

Having said that...I always remove the plate on track days etc....it does make a big difference.

Sorry if I was a bit misleading, my car doesn't overheat at all, it runs fine, I just wondered about the numberplate, if anyone has gone down the jag etc route stickers on the bonnet, or done away with it, or offset to one side etc

I ran mine without for a couple of months but got too self-conscious of the looks from the BiB. The car consistently ran about 10 degrees cooler on the gauge without the plate, but it didn't really have an issue with overheating so I soon gave in and refitted.

My front number plate has only ever been on 2-3 times since I owned the car over 2 years ago

So far its cost me £90 in tickets so about 8p day, money well spent IMO

What about laying it angled on the bottom 'chin' of the front bumper/grill?

3/4 size plate will sort you out. Never been pulled for it and it was on my Griff before the Cerb

These stick ons work well for keeping the temp down and they can't be read by numberplate recognition cameras, (so the bib told me biggrin).

When I bought mine it had a stuck on number plate, ran it like that for the 2 hour drive home then changed it.
Personally I don't think it suits the car.

I've also got a 3/4 size plate, never had any problems with it.

Mine has only ever got hot in standing traffic.
If yours is getting hot whilst moving (when the plate might have an influence) then you have problems in other areas than the size of your plate.

If your car is running fine i would not worrie about it. I have never had an issue with the number plate and i leave it on for track days as well.

Stop worrying just get out and enjoy it there a lot tougher cars than you some lead you to believe smile
