The last drive back in July 2010 ended on back of recovery truck at 2am, car with cracked bellhousing and me knowing at that point in time I couldn't give her the time and effort required to keep her on the road. So a SORN and a very lazy lay-up for her and different focus for me for 2 years.

Fast forward to late July 2012 and plans were afoot to get her back on the road. After trailering her to Liphhook for a good look over, the bellhousing was knacked, rad was shot, front damper leaking, clutch was showing studs through the plate, none of the steering wheel buttons worked, the windscreen seal was rotten, rear plate lights not working.................you get the idea.

Andy sorted the bellhousing, clutch, rad and a tappet adjust, while I set to work on the rest of the list. That got August out of the way. Early September she passed the MOT, the tax then arrived, I was insured and for the first time in over 2 years she was ready to go. Did a 500 mile road test over a week to unearth any gremlins but at the end of the week none

So, where to go in mid-September with an on-song cerb that you've not driven for an obscene amount of time? Go visit some family I thought. As my in-laws live in Brittany, my uncle near Carcassonne and my sister near Alicante I left Blighty on the 17th September and got back at the weekend. What a drive! Never skipped a beat in 3000+ miles, in fact every day she felt a little bit tighter, a little bit more 'up for it'!

Anyway, enough ramble, just to say hello all and I know the world must have moved on as FUBAR is talking about DIY jobs on his Cerb and as far as I can tell maybe getting his hands dirty some time soon. eekhehe

woohoo welcome back Rob!

Great that you've got the car back working although, considering the use you put it through previously, it probably needed a rest anyway smile

Just so you can rest easy, I have a new tactic whereby I post up about doing DIY and/or where to get parts from, in the hope/knowing that the great Cerb community will come to my rescue and help me out. I threaten to do DIY but generally all I do is make tea/coffee during daylight hours then buy dinner/beer for the person(s) who took pity on me and helped out, to whom I am grateful.

But don't let them know its a ruse, just keep that between us umkay wink

Well that gives me a little bit more motivation! My Cerb fell out with its diff on Feb 14th 2011, and I'm determined to make sure it doesn't see in the second anniversary of that date still sat idle in the garage!
