Hi,

I was just wondering how those of you that have fitted the Optima Red Top battery clamped it into the car has the battery doesn't have the normal end lip at the bottom?

To be honest - there's not exactly a lot of room for it to be able to move around !
I just wedged mine in with a small bit of wood bandit

Simples I bought two rubber doughnuts, and bolted them with the existing screws. They wedge the battery in a treat

I got a 1.2 Clio battery in mine, works a treat! Since the cut off switch was installed

I've never had any failure issues with mine, but I used "foam" tape to wedge mine in. You can buy a roll like sellotape, of 5mm foam which is sticky on one side. I lined the battery area with it.

IT's been in there three years now with no problems from the heat or anything else...

Used a Z shaped piece of steel covered in shrink wrap to clamp mine down.

If two top grade batteries failed in short succession I suggest the you get your alternator/voltage regulator looked at! Besides - both batteries would have had guarantees of at least a couple of years, would it not have been better to get a replacement under guarantee?

Well the battery is on order so will see how it fits and probably try and wedge it in. There is nothing wrong with my current battery but thought I would treat the Cerb and this one isn't clamped down as it too short.

My Yellow Top simply has a small clamp that sets on the lower bottom lip of the battery.
I suspect that the Red Tops are failing as they aren't designed to be held at low charges for any period of time. Yellow Tops are a more resilient battery.

I would go with a yellow top instead after the Rd Top failed after a couple of years
