Anyone made one recently? Using the very handy http://www.thetvrsite.com/cerbera/ecu-diagnostic-s... and http://www.tvr-cerbera.co.uk/software.html

However it seems Farnell have changed their part numbers.. Or I am being a dunce. Trying to search names on their site is getting me nowhere. Anyone got part numbers they have ordered recently?

It is just a bog standard DB9 connector available from Farnell, Maplins, CPC, fleabay etc for pennies. Search for "DB9" or "D sub 9 pin"

You don't need the two resistors, they are for writing to the ECU only.

To further assist a dunce..

What cable is it? Searching 3 core coiled lead will end up with me making a telephone from the look of it.

Maplins part no is L67BT. it's an RS232 Male to Female serial cable. ALso know as a DSUB 9 pin lead. It's 10.99 at Maplins. You will find them cheaper elsewhere. smile

Now said dunce is confused.. That lead there (or equivalent) will do the job, no assy required..?

yes it will, as long as the laptop you're planning on using has a serial port (looks like the male end of the serial lead) to connect the lead to.

If it's a newish laptop it probably won't, it'll have USB only, in that case you'll also need a USB->Serial Converter. Maplin part no ZP43W and it's £9.99 here http://www.maplin.co.uk/usb-to-serial-9-pin-male-a...

It'll work with no further assy required.

NOTE: When you close the diagnostics software, unless you are running an ancient version of Windoze, it'll automatically log you out, so make sure you've saved any info you need before you exit the software.

And is the software capable of writing too?

Not possible with the TVR MBE.

Is there software that can write on the MBE?

Not directly, no. You need a programmable chip and a writer for it.

Ahh, so, on the rollers, take measurements, take chip out, make adjustments, refit and retest? And I take it Jools is the best person to do this?
