Notice of "You've been framed"and collected fine!
Discussion
Had letter in post this morning saying I'd been caught doing 42mph in a 30
. Location I know well for being a hot spot but always keep a very good look out for portable speed camera.
I never saw this little beauty and are now concerned as it got me 3 weeks ago. I just got notification but could have been caught another 12 times as I use this route most mornings, 7am! I know/hope this is not likely and having never collected a single point since 1988 I would consider myself very lucky espeically as I cover 25k miles per year (not all in my cerbie!!).
I guess once I know the penalty I'll be notifying my insurance company!!

Sorry to hear the news old chap. My wife is a copper and has some bad news. It can take up to 28 days for the letter to come through the post. In extreme circumstances it can take 6 weeks but that is quite rare. Not the thing you want to hear I am sure. I'd stick to the limit for a while if I were you.

Did you say 3 weeks to get NIP? I think they have to get that to you in 14 days for it to be valid.
14 days is a guideline, as far as I know - think if they have proof it was posted within that time frame, it doesn't matter how long it takes to turn up. However, if they've no proof of when it was posted, I think it's now 17 days (to take into consideration normal postal delays). Was most gutted when one turned up on the doorstep a few months back after 13 days. Turned out it was my father driving.
Are you sure it wasn't somebody else that doesn't drive often behind the wheel at the time... especially if you might've got caught more than once... >> Edited by J_S_G on Wednesday 1st September 02:15

Pffft. 36 in a 30 whilst being hassled by some blacked out car with 4 huge blinged up gorillas sat in it (windows were wound down before someone points out the obvious flaw in the story)... they were in front, then pulled in, then pulled out behind the car, ran right up the rear end for a bit, then started flashing their lights whilst swerving about. Decided to put some distance between the Cerb & them just at the wrong moment.
Rang up the police to ask about the situation before the ticket ever arrived, and they said it didn't matter if it was in trying to avoid what was considered to be threatening driving... it was still breaking the law.
What's even more annoying is that the car was only a few miles from South Yorkshire... 36 in a 30's just a driving course there, isn't it? Sigh...
(Must've been really upsetting for the old man...)

got my NIP last week and am wondering wether to request the photo ?
To maybe find its been lost ?
What do you think folks ????????????
Depends on the alleged speed & speed limit, and many other things...
First thing I'd do is check the signage in the area to make sure that complies with the law. Then I'd take a look at www.pepipoo.com, and everything they've got there (so yes, get a copy of the evidence).
