When i open the boot it then continually makes the unlocking ticking noise.

To lock it i have to slam it a few times to stop it and then it seems to lock.

Any ideas / remedies....i am thinking a squirt of WD40...nah too easy!

Jilted ex-lover? a bit of semtex in the boot somewhere, wired up, but not done correctly, I'd look for a matchbox with wires coming out of it...

you never know!

PS. remove lock, take it apart, acid clean it, reassemble, grease, check wires, replace bits and bobs as required... and then assemble it back together... should be fine... or... you can just get an indy to do it for you....

Sounds like the solenoid just keeps going. Try pulling the badge out away from the body & see if it stops....

If it does, the badge just needs a bit of adjusting (away from the car). Pull the carpet away from inside the boot & I think it's 2 10mm nuts that hold the badge on - just un-screw them a small amount....

Have you been slamming it or dropping the boot heavily before the problem occured ?,,I was always told to be gentle when shutting the boot

I concur. I have a hell of a time with my badge, it's either not activating the lock at all, or activating it all the time. Precise adjustment is required.
