My Cerb has developed a rattle over the past few days which sounds like a metallic rattlesnake and only occurs at 2900rpm, either on the way up the revs or the way back down. It sounds a bit more mean than a tinny exhaust rattle, but I do know that the metal plate under where the cats were is missing a couple of bolts, to be fixed by Austec next week.

Am I just being a nervous ninny or has anyone else had a similar noise? (ok, now waiting for the 'just push the accelerator further' replies)

Cheers

Nick

Had similar noise at similar RPM, turned out to be a similar thing - vibration between exhaust & something close to it. Judicious use of a hammer at the garage fixed it.

Mine is doing the same at the moment. Only at 2000 rpm and only when cold. Bl**dy cars!

Dont notice mine when cold, just when it all warms up. Well, it may be there but as we all know, when the engines cold there are much worse sounding rattles and noises so I may not be detecting the rattle until the engine warms and 'most' of the other noises go away...dontcha just love these cars

Should also hope you don't accelerate through/back down through 2900 RPM when the engine's cold...

Ahh, good point James, I'm a good boy and that is probably the reason for not hearing the rattle when cold DOH!

Yeah, yeah... you stick to that story so you can offload your driven-into-the-ground shed onto someone gullible when it comes time to sell.

Only kidding - when warming it up becomes habit, you do kind of forget that you're not using half of the car's abilities
