Got my New Cerb despite terrible dealer attitude
Discussion
So, I finally bought the car I went to see earlier this year! The car had some things which needed doing on it earlier in the year, and I ended up buying another one.
However, it came up for sale again a couple of months ago after all the issues had been sorted, and I loved the colour so much I bought it.
It's SupraRich's old car, and whilst I agreed to buy it a couple of months ago, because of one thing and another, I only collected it last night.
Here are some pics that Richard put up.

Rich was a great guy to deal with, which is more than I can say for the dealer where the car went for an inspection (in the North West). The service I got from those guys was nothing short of disgraceful and by far the worst experience of any Indy I have ever had. Shame on you.

Well know Indy in the NW. Don't want to fall foul of the PH police so I won't name them.
Really ?? I am surprised... whilst I only use one of the well known Indies/Dealers in the NW, there's rarely a complaint about any of them. Shame you were unhappy with the expereince whichever one it was. Thanks for the positive comments guys. I had just come from a White Cerb (flip flop blue), but I have to say that this one is stunning in the flesh.
Re the dealer, I have had a few weeks to calm down now but I was absolutely furious with them at one stage, and was even worried about them being vindictive whilst they had the car for a couple of weeks.

Vote with your feet !!
(but Congratulations anyway )
Thanks. I did vote with my feet, but that's when a lot of the attitude came to the surface. The car being with them for 2 weeks and me being 250 miles away was not a comfortable experience!(but Congratulations anyway )
To the guy's who pm'd me with the dealer name - yep, you got it.
It's very interesting that I've had a few emails from people saying they have also had poor service from the dealer I had my bad experience with. This leads me to want to name the dealer, but I am sure the PH police would not like it. I would ask any others who have had issues with the dealer to perhaps come forward more publicly.
It's the only way we will change attitudes and improve service. I am minded to point the dealer to this post and let them know that their customers are feeling. They completely ignored my email to them, which I sent after I had secured delivery of the car.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.

As briefly as I can put it:
The seller had a credit due to him from the dealer. He wanted me to pay him for that credit. I agreed so long as the dealer agreed to transfer the credit to me. The dealer confirmed this to both me and the seller and pursuant to this agreement I asked the seller to take the car to the dealer, for them to inspect it and carry out whatever work I agreed to get done.
The dealer told both the seller and me the inspection would be free. Nice offer and unsolicited.
All good so far, so based on this agreement the seller took the car to the dealer, and left it with them with a view to me paying him and collecting it from the dealer post inspection.
Once the dealer had the car, and had their captive audience, they did the inspection. No horrors, in fact both the seller and me were told it was much better than most cars they see. Based on this, I paid the seller. Once I had done this, things started going south. Broadly,
- The dealer decided they wanted paying for the inspection - ok, but not in accordance with what they had originally said.
- decided the credit was not due to me anymore!!!
- and on the basis the seller had sold the car, not due to him either!!!
- picked up work done a few months earlier by X works, when this was pointed out, they told me how much better their work is than any other dealer and other dealers rip people off
- said the car needed a lot of work because of the quality of past services. It's had an annual service from respected dealers every year of its life FFS! And this comment was in direct contradiction to what they said before I bought the car.
At this stage I was a bit out of pocket, had paid for the car, and it was dealing with a now "hostile" dealer. Not that comfortable and I was actually worried about them being vindictive and damaging the car.
The seller and I eventually managed to convince them they at least owed us the original credit, which amounted to a service.
They then took ages to do the service despite telling me they could have done all the inspection work immediately.
The dealer was incredibly arrogant, disingenuous (well to be honest, lied) and totally unprofessional.
Both the seller and I vowed never to use the dealer again.

Hi Richard, it's fantastic thanks. Great colour, just as I remember it. I got the service invoice and guess what? They list even more faults with the car over and above what they told us following their "detailed" inspection. Despite it being one of the better cars they have seen, it seems to have developed an almost infinite number of "faults" !!!
