I removed the starter lastnight as it was making horrible crunching noises on and off for a while.

And more recently it would only start if I fed the solenoid directly from the battery – while still crunching before it engaged.

I found a local auto electrician and asked if he could recon my starter and after chatting to him for a few minutes, to my surprise, he said that they stock reconditioned Cerbera Tilton starters.

I only called on the off chance as he was local.

He also confirmed that they have Tilton 2.5kw starters, and not the 1.4kw Nissan ones, on the shelf ready to swap for my starter.

So, before I bring my starter over to him on Saturday, would someone be able to confirm if my starter is a Tilton one?

Any help would be much appreciated

More or less the same as the CCW-TOOLS guys up in Lincoln but a short drive away from home so I'll save on time and shipping
