any tips on routing the throtle cable???

Hi all
Im really strugling to get it working nice and im sure the cable is to long, (racing green supplied it)
At the mo im coming off the pedal, past the servo as far right as i can get it, past the brake res under and as far right as poss, full u turn then back past the brake res on the left, past the clutch res, back into the footwell though a 20mm ish hole in the pedal hanger, then another 110deg turn into the engine bay through the same grommet as the capilary, then onto the throttle linkage..... Surely this cant be the right way to do it???

It is very true that it is a tortuous path BUT I don’t ever remember re-entering the footwell.
Once I’d made it up from the footwell into the brake bulkhead I thought that I had to circumvent the brake and clutch reservoirs before going through the hole in the back of the clutch bulkhead and then into th main engine bay.

It is very true that it is a tortuous path BUT I don’t ever remember re-entering the footwell.

Once I’d made it up from the footwell into the brake bulkhead I thought that I had to circumvent the brake and clutch reservoirs before going through the hole in the back of the clutch bulkhead and then into th main engine bay.

I'm pretty sure that the 4.2 and 4.5 cables are different lengths, as they have different part numbers iirc. Check you have the correct one.
On my 4.5. The cable runs from the pedal up to and through the bulkhead, through the wing and comes out just behind the r/h airbox and onto the outer cable stop bracket. It then goes straight to the quadrant.

Sounds about right for the standard cable. I think TVR did this because nothing lines up correctly inside the car so they had to provide big looping cables because if it was run direct it would be to tight. It is possible to have a very short cable but you will have to drill new holes and route the cable in a non standard way. Think im gonna have a go at making the cable the right lenght as its not good at the mo, its way to heavy and it doesnt snap back to idle the way it should. Ive messed with extra springs and suchlike but its just not right, the way the controls work is vital to me or i cant concentrate. Ill let you knor how i get on :0)
I had the exact same problem. Rung the supplier to explain and was told 4.2 and 4.5 and the same length.
I questioned this and they asked a technician. I was then told oops sorry you spent 6 hours upside down in your footwell fitting a 4.2 cable to your 4.5, they are indeed different lengths, 4.5 being the shorter.

Well i had a chance this morning to have a go at shortening the cable so i routed it the easiest route and measured how much i had to remove and this is what i found...
Standard cable (outer) over all = 1200mm
To run run forward of the brake fluid res remove 220mm
Or do what i did and run behind the brake res and take 530mm off
Why are they so long????
The throttle is now soooooo sweet, she barks big time and i feel soo much more in control of her. No bull!! It's like night and day the way it now reacts to the loud pedal, both ways, as she snaps back into line way quicker too..
Now just gotta get a proper cable made the correct lenght or find some decent ends to crimp on

Be interested to know how long the correct 4.5 cable is Tommy ? Does this mean there maybe a number of 4.5 running longer 4.2 cables ? ........
