While getting the MOT today I got her on the scales and she came in a bit chunky at 1290kg. Now I have a bit of extra ICE in there (amp/sub/heavier speakers all around) and nearly half a tank of fuel (30-40kg). So just taking the fuel off my car should be around 1250kg.
Just wondered how does this compare to others and what are the reasons for varying. Mine is a 97 4.2 On RL7's.

What amazed me most is how heavy the standard bonnet, doors and boot lid are! Also the inner wings are really thick fibreglass.
Weight saving is a scary thing though..... it becomes an obsession! Cutting the ends off of bolts and making sure wiring goes the most direct route possible so there is less of it!! Just to save a couple of lbs!

I should mention I have since realised I haven't actually got a true weight after all!
Looking at my MOT for the brake test, the car was weighed at both axles and added together. The trouble with this is the rollers were in the floor and the car drops each axle into these for each axle weight. Being on an angle each axle is holding more weight than normal,
So the good news is my car weighs less than I originally thought! Hopefully closer to Bykers who also has a 97 4.2 with lighter rear boxes.

Have you checked the difference in weight of a LW Bonnet? Mine is a LW and is soooo so much lighter than the norm. Mike
Obviously I can't check the difference in the weight of doors boot etc as they're all hinged and on stays but would be curious to know if there is a difference.
One day I will get round to weighing mine.
