future cerb owner
Discussion
Hi All,
I have finally decided after sometime (about 2 years) to finally make the plunge and get a TVR. I have always loved the cars, but knew little about them. I have taken a little time to find out what to look for etc when buying a TVR. I originally wanted a Tuscan, but then found the Cerbera, and the more i looked into it, the more i realised this was the TVR for me, basically because of the AJP V8 engine, LSD trip interior, great exterior looks and shear power. Before i buy a Cerbera i would like to meet some other Cerbera owners localish to me to get some input and advice about these cars.
i live in the Portsmouth/Southampton area and wonder if there are any meets arranged near me in the near future.
Cheers
Steve

All the best with your search.
Buy a known car, thats had money lavished on it over the last 3 years and had tons of stuff replaced, dont buy one that 'hasnt cost me a penny' as the bills will be pending, be willing to compromise on colours and specs, ensure the chassis is good (generally 96/97 and 00-04 being the best, unless refurbed), ideally one with decent shockers, originality rules etc :-)

I work in Basingstoke too, live v near M3, so there's lots of advisors local to you Steve. It's Hampshire TVRCC meet at Milburys, Beauworth SO24 0PB on Sunday 13th and every 2nd sunday, occasionally I attend, so I'll let you know if I'm going.I could meet up with you for a chat sometime, I work in Basingstoke but can pop down the M3 after work one day, PM me if you want.

Thanks ukkid35 and ShiDevil, Chatsworth and the Neil Garner open day sound good, also the latter is not far from me.
I joined the TVR club today, as i saw they have a hants regional group, which has one cerbera in the group i am told by the TVR office. Thanks for the dates for the hants meet Demondad, I will try and attend the next meet which is this Sunday?
Thanks Gruffalo and F1SERB for the opportunity, I'll pm you both, i would love to actually go out in a cerb, which has yet to happen!
Gazzab: Thanks for tips, i have realised that it will not be an easy task finding the right Cerb, as there are soo few about.
Cheers

It is some way away, but I definitely recommend a trip to Chatsworth in a few months time, you will learn a lot. It is quite a hike, but it's the best place to meet lots of friendly knowledgeable Cerb owners.
Wot he said ^^^^Chatsworth is probably the largest annual gathering of Cerbs and it's exactly what I did before taking the plunge.
When looking for your 'perfect' car, don't get suckered in by lots of 'bling' and don't be put off if it needs a bit of work either. Also, don't be put off by mileage as these cars like to be driven. Even the youngest of cars are nearly 10yrs old, low mileage examples are going to be rare and frankly unnecessary.
Do your research, understand what the common problems are and approx costs of fixing (outriggers, chassis restore, engine re-build, clutch, etc...). That way, if you see your perfect car, £6k below budget but it needs a load of chassis work, you'll know that it might actually still be worth considering. If you see what I mean??
