Need some help please. There are a few bits of the coiled wire sticking through the outside walls of the induction hoses. Are they still safe for the engine or should I replace them with new ones from ACT.

If I was you swop them ASAP
Goes with out saying that if they spring a leek the dirty air will be sucked in
Worst case is that some of the plastic gets sucked in and jams a butter fly open
Or gets in to the head and melts all over your pistons

Do you have long or short induction?
You may want to invest in short replacements?

Does the short induction hurt low end torque?

Apparently it can move power up the rev range (as I understand it).
I don't have short induction. Not had it on any of my cerbs.
Speak to joolz and he'll sort short induction and map the car correctly.

Very reason I have the long ones for sale as I now have short induction. Remap with joolz later on in the year.

But then overall it's not cheap but worth it.

Normally shorter inlets improve torque at high RPM at the expense of low end and vice versa, hence why some mainstream cars having multiple sets in their manifold and valving to select the best set depending on RPM. Mine apparently produces about 360 with new long hoses from ACT. I'd rather have nearer my 420bhp for pub talk reasons butmine is very wholesome low down and I'm not sure I'd swap that for top end BHP. Can someone please PM me Joolz's contact details so I can find out what's what?

360 is a little on the low side. Measured on which rollers?
You will be probably looking at 400bhp with short and remap. If the car is new to you, save your money until you have driven for a while...?

The act website has a good explanation of the short induction.

I'm not sure which rollers but I'll ask the seller/previous owner. To be honest with you, the car terrified me as it was so power chasing will not be where I first spend money on it. If I do run out, I'd like to do it all at once and as effectively as possible though.

I'm just trying to soak up as much info as possible smile

I can say for certain that the ACT long hoses are much nicer than the OE ones though - they don't resemble ribbed condoms for a start so that's always a bonus.
