Apologies if this has been done to death. I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for...

Can anyone tell me how to change the battery(ies?) in the Cerbera alarm fobs? One of mine seems a bit useless. I opened up the fob but the contact is soldered across the top locking the battery in. Do I need to de-solder it?

If I do change the battery, will it still work or need reprogramming of some description?

Thanks all. Just off out to get some stuff to give it a good clean whilst I can't drive it rolleyes

As for resetting. No it didn't but there does seem to be a difference on this process depending on age.

Do you have two fobs?

The battery should just slide out. Neither of the models of the Meta alarm commonly fitted to the Cerb (M99T - factory fitment, M99T2 usualy used as a replacement when the original dies) need the fob re-synchronising after a battery change.

On my 2001 4.5 I had to 'crack' the two halves of the Fob open with a fine screwdriver. The internals were thus ....

and the Fob just clipped back together.

Ahh - I assumed the black plastic ring was fixed down to the PCB - I don't like trying to force things until I've checked!

Thanks folks!

Understand what you mean. I think the two halves were located by two pins as well as the 'clip' faces. PCB just fell out IIRC.

HTH.

(p.s. Dont't know about you but I always have my two demons on my shoulders. One saying, "Go on, you puff. Hit is wth a bigger hammer !"
and the other saying "Careful you Clot, You're gonna break it !"

That's the batteries changed in both fobs, and both now lock/unlock the car from the upstairs windows. Previously only one worked and that was only if you found a sweet spot at the driver's side window.

There are two types of fob ie a black square one and a grey round one. The former being the factory spec and the latter the replacement ones afaik. The grey ones seem to be more robust.

I have one of each. The grey round one is my main user, the square black is my spare. Both now work fine.
