Hi guys, so I have been trawling the site for a few months now! Ready to start my search for a Cerb! I have a budget of around 11k at the moment and am toying between a speed six and a 4.5! I need to use the at as my main for of transport although it is not used very often it will be used approx twice per week... Any advice would be great!!

I have seen this car. Please see the link. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

Does anyone know this car? What are your thoughts on it guys??

Go and view it as it's good to see one in the flesh - although phone up beforehand as they don't keep it on a trickle charger..

Edit - May need to rethink your 'budget' for a good cerb?

Yes I am going to try and get down next week at some point!

Would you please be able to shine a little more light on the budget? as you have just said this Cerb is good!

Do you know this vehicle? What is like underneath? Is the work carried out good work? Has it been looked after?

I may have misunderstood the above so apologies if you have the wrong end of the stick...

Do you mean to use this as your main car?

With regards to budgets, I'm just shy of one week in to ownership following around 6-8 months of intensive lurking, silly questions and general reading up. I think I did buy a well maintained one for just over £16k and have had to spend around £600 so far on it and it's currently undriveable due to a knackered clutch which failed on the drive home from buying it.

Every car is different and some will never give any trouble, but the TVR reputation is, I feel, fairly well deserved. It doesn't stop me loving the car, but I don't think I'd either be happy depending on it for transport nor indeed not having a fairly healthy financial situation to react to it's little hissy fits.

Always make sure you have something in your back pocket. The car may not break down per se, but Cerberas need a lot of TLC, and TLC can be read as "money" in practical terms.

Yes, but I work away so only really have need for a vehicle occasional use weekends etc. Sometimes to be relied upon to get to work buty it will remain static there for a week or 2.

Are there any reasonabley priced ones out there that have not been abused?!

I think you'll find Frio was saying "its good to go and see it" - not "its a good car".

This is from the thread Frio linked;

Interior was full of scuffs, the carpets at the drivers feet at come right up. There was a tonne of water on the inside of the rear window. The owner knows nothing about TVR's either which is a negative in my eyes.

The chap was quiet on how he got it - I think you could get it for half price but would require a lot of money to bring it up to the standard of some of the others listed for sale.

I went for a drive in it but only as a passenger simply because I didn't trust it lol
