Clutch slave cylinder bleed
Discussion
Ta muchly. I think the slave is ok. I can't find any evidence of a recent leak near or around the bellhousing, but there is a weap from the master cylinder and the seals of the latter are completely fornicated. I think I'll just leave the slave for now if it bleeds ok.
For some unexplainable reason, I really struggled with getting that poxy union screwed back into the master cylinder!
I'm going to blame cold/numb fingers.
It started raining so I've covered it up and come indoors for a warm up. I just need to nip up the bolts securing it to the body tub, bleed it, reseal the black dome thing covering it up and button up the airbox etc again. Then I'm going for a drive, hopefully.

Your slave? The seals on mine were changed quite recently. Hmmm. Not sure what to do now. I definately needed a new master:

I'll try bleeding it with the new master and see what happens. I'd hope the slave hadn't died again quite so soon. I've got a Race Proved one here but can't really face lying under the car in the driveway.
The reason I initially assumed it was the slave was because I'd lost the fluid from the reservoir (which was full of black debris). Now that I've positively identified a leak from the master I don't think I really have any specific reason to suspect the slave any more. Since I've bought one, I'll get it changed anyway but I reckon (hope???) I'll be ok to drive it for now.

If you've only just done the slave I'd leave it, especially if you have a Raceproved one to put in if it does go again. Didn't appreciate you'd recently done it.I'll try bleeding it with the new master and see what happens. I'd hope the slave hadn't died again quite so soon. Your master does look a bit shagged though.

I felt exactly the same Jamie after I first got mine. New Slave and master, then new alarm/immobiliser then new alternator all in quick succession. Now, apart from little niggles that pop up from time to time, it's been totally reliable for over two years really. (I really shouldn't have said that should I)?
Hope so! Something that's niggling me a little is that over the past week of playing with this thing, and the clutch hydraulics in particular, is that it seems to like to wait til it's all nice and fully warmed through before showing it's face. Despite a technical background I'm feeling slightly nervous about getting it back with a new slave because if it does decide to retain some residual issue, it's probably not going to reappear until I'm away from home with it.
Now to go search my next issue - cracked o/s exhaust manifold.
