Talk to me.. Early 4.2.

Contemplating the expensive shiny ACT ones. Who runs them? Anyone dyno'd back to back compared to standard?

Or.. Better off just sticking with 4.5 ones (probably shiny ACT ones again..)?

TVR couldn't even line up the flange and the primaries properly on the standard 4.2 ones.. Got a bad crack around the flange as well. Not sure how easy/well it will weld and stay 'fixed'.

I use these, very good increased mid range power and changed the noise completely.

There was a thread on here a couple of weeks ago that covered this quite well.

I love how yours sounds.. You popped a post in a thread of mine. Just looking for more feedback hence the specific thread.

I have found this thread since posting..

I think that's deliberate and called a reversion dam.

I am not so sure considering it is only on one or 2 of them..

I'd understand if it stepped out.. Aiding scavenging etc. This is an obstruction of the primary!

I am prepared to be corrected however..

Indeed, more like Al's preferred port shape and Wheeler just chucked any old bit of pipe on to make it work.

Anti-reversal ratchet malarkey doesn't apply here as the step goes the wrong way.

Yup! Step is in not out. Poor workmanship.

Mr Gruff do you have any before and after figures for the manifolds out of interest ? Would be nice to compare to standard!
343 before, 382 with jools work, then 380 swapping to the act manifolds
What was the rest of the curve like..? Did Jules redo his work post ACT manifolds? (This is the £1300 versions right?) Same dyno/similar ambient conditions?

I would talk to Windsor about this (Longbow) as he's been there and done it. From memory there was an issue with them fitting correctly, but I'm sure he'll clarify it all.

Is it true you have to remove them to get at the spark plugs?

You need a thin wall socket, also very strong fingers to get the plug leads back on firmly.

I read elsewhere (on here) that the 3 piece ACT manifolds blocked access to the plugs. Good news if that was wrong... Sounded like a bit of a non-starter!
