Need to get my wheels balanced, hopefully will cure the vibration I'm getting at motorway speeds (unless the chocolate spiders have struck again). Anyway, I'm a bit nervous about taking it to the local tyre fitters and them jacking it up the wrong way when taking the wheels off.
Even if i hover around I'm not entirely sure where the best places to jack it up are, i think i read use the corners of the outriggers or front and rear cross members, any advice?

I had same issue recently , i found a local mobile tyre fitter checked him out with a body shop i used and he came to me . I jacked the car myself and had both backs off with car on stands . I had bought a second hand spider and got him to run up the wheels on his balancing machine in the van . Interestingly i could look along the top line of the tyre from outside his van , it was shocking how much the wheels were both out of true . I now have three straight wheels on the car and the best of the bent ones balanced as well as possible on the nearside rear . The car now has less vibration than at any time sine i had it , but with all the new potholes we have after the snow i don't expect that to last .
Good Luck .

Kwik fit..............seriously.

Ask them to put it on their MOT ramp, they have a movable jack that moves the complete length of the chassis
Enabling them to jack off the central frame. Just make sure you're there when they do it ready to offer advise when they
Start throwing the wheels aroundbiggrin they did't believe me when I told them the nut torque setting was only 60 lbs.

I'm still not brave enough to torque to just 60 ft/lbs.

Same here, but they haven't fallen off yet! and that's after doing 160mph on the runway
during BNG last year. Still as tight as the day they were torqued up.

You guys take it really seriously
I always tighten the nuts with common sense, but good to know how much they should really be... driving

Just to close this off, took the Cerb to Hi-Q at the bottom of the roadand made sure they jacked it up using the main chassis members, had to drive it onto some blocks so he could get the jack under the car!
Also asked if they would fit brake pads that I supplied and they said they could, which should save me some hastle when I get them (don't even own a jack).

Oh, and the balancing cured the vibration so was 15 quid well spent, and I did enjoy the extended test drive.

My printed handbook that came with the car says this also. I have always considered it stupidly low!
