Does anyone have an Oil Temp Gauge from the group buy a while ago that they didn't install?
Shot in the dark, but does anyone have a gauge with Magnolia dial, Black text & Black needle that they would consider selling to me?

What's the lead time with speedy cables. I had one made last year but can't remember how long it took.

Not sure tbh as thought they'd only do a batch?
I'll perhaps give them a call and see if they can do a single one for me..

Where you going to put the sensor. I used a sandwich plate. Whilst it works I might change it as its pretty tight in that area now.

I was thinking of having a speed six oil cooler swapped in soon and along with it I'm going to add the gauge in place of the clock.
I can't remember if the speed six oil cooler has a tap for a sensor, but the actual oil cooler itself is very effective I believe.
If there is no tap for the sensor then I'm not sure where the sensor will go...

Is the speed 6's cooler bigger then? I put an oil stat in as well when I was going my front end jobs. I'm sure an adapter could be made up from a fitting. Even welding a boss on wouldn't be hard to a fitting. I thought oil temp at the filter would be a good point as its just left the engine so a good indication.

The oil cooler from a speed six uses water from the cooling system to contorl oil temprature.

I'm just finsihed a project upgrading the water cooling system on my car.

The aim was to control the swiing in coolant temps. Which we have pretty much done. I just have a few more tweaks to finish and it should be completed.

Once that's done, and the coolant temp swing is under coltrol, I'm going to look at fitting the speed six oil cooler.

Still don't know where the oil temp sensor will go yet though!

What sort of fluctuations were you getting out of interest. Were they using the original dual gauge?

The dual gauge is a bit iffy and always reads way over. So I always use the ecu diagnostic software. It used to swing between 82 and 95.

I got Joolz to do the cooling chip modification ages ago to reduce the fan cut in temps. so it never goes over 91 on the ecu s/w

Speed six oil temp is fitted to the bottom drivers side of the Dry Sump Oil tank - which is not much help with an AJP V8....but you may wish to know?

Hello Guys,

Mr Hanger-On here wavey

Peter, I did a search for sandwich plates at the time but couldn't find one thin enough to let the filter cover back on. Can you remember from where you acquired yours ??

Aide,

Clock ??

(Sorry, tried to put a better photo in here but Thumbsnap isn't working frown )

Filter cover?

Mine was from eBay. Ill find it out later for you. The only thing I done was deburr all the edges as they were a bit rough. It has four ports in it for sensors etc.

I ran the earth the one of the chassis point on the outrigger on the passenger side.

Thanks Trev,

I'm not exactly sure where we're going to put it tbh.

There is the sandwich plate option that Peter used and I think I seen a fitting on the orig group buy thread that went in-line on an oil pipe.

Funny! I was thinking of putting the gauge in place of the air vent but since I fitted a battery brain my clock is NEVER right! So, it's going smile

Nope, they do single orders as I got mine about 6 months before the PH group buy.

Yup, same as. Looks better there. Why would you need a clock in a car that's so fast it'll do a half hour in 20 minutes? wink
