Following on from the "define a niggle" and without going over the top, what are the essential items that people carry round in the boot of their cars all the time? Then what additional items do they put in when going on a longer trip?

Having only recently bought a Cerbera and doing lots of reading I wondered what people suggested as essential to deal with the niggles that may arise. So far my thoughts are,

1, Small, versatile tool case
2, The infamous 100amp fuse
3, Cable ties
4, Tyre pump for the tyre weld (does anyone carry a jack?)
5, 1 liter of oil

So what other suggestions / what priority without filling the boot with enough spares to build a new car.

Cheers

M

Visa card, AA card, torch (to read the number off the card) and a phone to ring the number with.

Actually I do carry a tool roll and a wheel brace but this is more so that the tools I need are close to the car than to actually fix it. My experience of lots of cars over lots of years is that unless you happen to also be a carrying the spare gearbox/alternator/driveshaft to replace the thing that just broke the tools aren't actually much use.

Actually the best bits are these (and I have used both to rescue myself)

I have searched and found the Cerbera first aid kit, but what's the TVR tool kit?

I think of the Cerbera boot much like a handbag and so here is what I have with me generally;

Strong tape and electrical tape
Alun keys
Big fuse
Vaseline
Small tube silicone
Torch
Selection of fuses
Relays
Water
Oil
Tyreweld
Screwdrivers
Spanners
Cable ties
M10 bolts
Wheel brace
Sand paper
Rubber glove
WD40

That's about it. It all fits into a neat little box which makes me happy smile You don't really want me to go into what goes on a trip do you? tongue out

I just add clutch/brake fluid
A jack - if no one else is taking one
Cake
Rainex

Any help? tongue out

Not sure if they are still there Matt, but I left a plastic bag of fuses tucked away in the fusebox. All bar the 100amp.

Also, it may be worth keeping a spare throttle cable.

Add a 7mm socket with a UJ on a long extension for re-tightening hose clips and allen keys that fit the door panels for when the windows decide not to go up.

My car came with a full socket set in the boot so the previous owner obviously had his wits about him! smile
