The story is that approx. 4 years ago I mounted a new wipermotor. It did not have to do a lot of work in these years because my car was in the workshop for a LS conversion which took 3 years and wasn't a good one. So it went to another workshop to rectify all that had gone wrong. This also took a year, but he car was under a cover indoors. When it was in the uk it had been standing outside for almost a year. When it came home from the UK 1,5-2 years ago the nylon toothed wheel was damaged and the motor was repaired.
The workshop where it is now says that the startermotor gets warm when it is activated. What can be the reason? Too much friction within the motor?

According to the workshop it is not the controlbox that causes the wipermotor to get warm. The motor itself seems to be stuck. It is pratically new and has suffered more from standing outside for a year than working. Could this be a matter of pulling it apart and put it back together again?

Take the wiper arms off the spindles (2 min job) and see of the spindles turn without the wipers on. If so you're struggling with torque - post back results
Btw - is the engine running when you try this? The extra volts really help
^^^ This but also withdraw the wrack from the wheel boxes and see if they are nice and free. One or both could be siezed causing the problem.Btw - is the engine running when you try this? The extra volts really help
Got it sorted today. Well, it wil be suficient for the dutch MOT. The spindle of the motor had jammed on the toothed wheel. It jammed on the top of the tooth, so luckily the tooth were stil there.
Does anyone know where to get a spare one? I also lost a very thin ring which has to go over the shaft I wil be very happy.

I saw a company on ebay selling a lot of lucas wiper motor parts. The part damaged in my motor is the plastic gear wheel. It is normally sold with the shaft on it. The problem is now which plastic wheel to order. Are there different gear wheels? Looking on the websites where 374 pounds is asked for a rebuilt motor! it is just a plastic wheel i need and a washer.
I`m guessing the wiper motor on the Cerb is a Lucas 29W. If its the same as in the Griffs and Chims the plastic gearwheel in the wiper motor is a 170 degree one. I dont think you can get them anymore, certainly not knew.
The only ones i have seen available new are the smaller ones for the 14W motor. These go up to 130 degree. Adrian@ on here refurbs the 29W wiper motors. Not sure if he has any gearwheels though. Maybe worth contacting him.

See this link.Here they say, that when you change the crankpin, you change the stroke.

This means that if you use the existing crankpin and change the plastic gear wheel, you have a new drive gear? My guess is that a lot of these plastic gear wheels are all the same.

Yes thats right, the wheels are essentially the same just with the pins in different locations to give different sweeps. The fact is tho the plastic gear wheels, ( which like you say will all be the same ) dont seem to be available anymore for the larger 29w motor. I think Adrian@ will be your only hope.
Or fit one of these as i have done, its brand new but with just a bit less sweep but perfectly adequate.
