HT Lead snakepit
Discussion
Hi Gang,
Quite a simple one for those in the know
BUT
Does anyone know where the layout of the coil packs is pictured.
Am trying to change a couple of my HT leads and it all looks like a black pile of spaghetti under the fuel rail and various other cabley bits.
Would like to have a clearer view before I start tugging in the wrong direction
Ta !

Have found this but need photos, not graphics, to clarify the layout.
and while we're at it can anyone tell me what/where one of
these does/goes ??
Ta again

Well, thanks for that.
I've been on this site for 8 years now and most of the posts I've made have included photos based on the old "worth a thousand".
You're totally correct Pater - I'm so dumb I shouldn't have bought a TVR - well, at least not out in a country where the Technical Support is less than Zero.
Have a wonderful Easter everyone

If that's the way you want to take it then that's up to you. I never said you were too dumb to have bought a TVR. And as far as I am aware membership of PH doesn't automatically confer the ability to read wiring diagrams.I've been on this site for 8 years now and most of the posts I've made have included photos based on the old "worth a thousand".

Photos won't help much because of the location of the plugs and leads, a single photo can't show which lead goes where. The diagram is much much clearer. If you get the leads connected up wrong your car wont run hence me suggesting that you get help from someone who can follow the diagram. However if you are convinced it will help.
If you haven't taken the leads off yet, then just mark both ends of each lead and put them back on the same terminals/plug and if you are replacing them with new, do them one at a time. That way you don't need either a diagram or photo. If you have already taken them all off the the diagram is the answer, just follow it one connection at a time. The physical routing of the leads is entirely up to you, just make sure they can't touch against the exhaust manifolds.
Have a great Easter too!

It's quite likely that your leads won't be long enough to route around the back of the engine, mine certainly aren't, they just go over the cam covers.Mad Mark said:
If only you had posted a few days ago.. I had all my intakes off and fuel rail and all my leads are clearly labelled up.
That said I still put two back on back to front. DOH!!! lol
Marky - You are a fecking Star !!That said I still put two back on back to front. DOH!!! lol
Didn't realise that I had to take the fuel rail off.
To all others - Thank You very much.

What is the job you are trying to do?
As luck would have it I DID take pics before changing the alternator. I forgot i usually do take pics as I work on things. Unfortunately they are the before I spruced the engine up a bit but should still help you out.

As you can see the firing order has been marked on the rocker cover. After clean up I numbered it on the coils and also the rockers so there were no mistakes in future.
But in your case as you are replacing your leads just do one at a time then you can't go wrong.

Nooooo!! You don't have to take the fuel rail off to get to he HT leads. lol Mine was off as I was changing the alternator but would have given a good pic of the leads for you.

Plug end off (eventually) but the Coil end disappears under the Fuel Rail
All in place:

Rail straps off:

The snakepit:

Snakepit close up:

and, as you can(not) see, I can’t see which lead goes where.
So I thought that if I took the rail off then I would be ableto SEE WTF I’m doing….hence my request for photos.
Actually mate I lost your phone no when my phone died last year so if you could text me on 00352 621 497 325 the I’ll ring you back for a chat about it (If you’re not too snowed under with the kids
