No it's not usual for a V8. Sometimes accidents happen though. It's probably an alright car overall, but I think you'd need to assume that the car was going to cost you £14k like all the other good ones in the end.
Just look at the Wheeler Dealers one which also cost around £8k. Tur8o's was advertised at £8k with known outrigger problems but everything else in good nick. Similar timescale for a sale as the WD car too - "I'm out of the country this week so buy please!"
In the absence of some song and dance about how good the chassis is, I'd assume it needed work. Same goes for the springs and dampers. If they're original, they'll be goosed. If they were replaced, you'd tell someone. If the car was not already a Cat D I wouldn't mind taking a risk on it knowing that it will probably need cash spent, but whilst being an insurance loss or not isn't the be all and end all there's still a stigma to it so I'd rather spend that on one without a marker on the VOSA/DVLA databases personally.

I wonder if this is the one that had the shocking green interior (as there are no shots of the inside in the ad). Austec had that one in and out a few times. Would the early chocolate cranks have made it as far as 1998?
Great colour though
(although confirms my thoughts that I don't like black wheels on yellow cars)
