Having a problem with the start button which is very annoying.

Each time i try to start the Cerb it is a gamble whether it will start by pressing the button or not.Battery is always on the charger and full when i start the car.

In case the button doesn't work I still hear the fuelpump and when i press the button I hear a clicking sound which is probably from a relay.

Any guess where to find the cause of this issue?

Thanks!
Bernard

Keep your finger on the start button until it starts and it might take some time rather than instant. Seems the immobiliser is playing up.

Take how you start the car off the forum please.

Have you touched the silver key?

Mine's started doing this after a lot of starting and stoping at Spa last weekend. I suspect in my case that it's a sticky solonoid on the starter motor.

Or the wire on the starter solenoid is breaking down.

My money's on the Immobiliser. Especially if it's the original unit.

My experience too. The immobilizer blocks the signal to the starter. There is a simple fix

Could you explain or PM me about the best way to fix this?

Havent touched the silver key till it started doing this but couldnt resist giving it a try to see if it would fix the issue.

If the immobilizer was faulty shouldn't it stop the fuelpump from working too?

The immobiliser has 2 separate circuits that it disconnects by internal relays, one for the fuel pump circuit and the other for the starter. Usually the one with the heaviest load i.e. the starter circuit, fails first.

The original Meta M99 had 3 immobiliser circuits, the later M99T2 only has 2, so yes depending on if it has ever been replaced it could be 3.

I've got the same problem. Cold start is fine but hot start she just clicks. I bought a new battery and the problem is 90% solved, but it still happens occasionally. I fixed the problem by installing a Tuscan style starter button, straight from the battery (fused of course) to the starter solenoid. I only use it when the normal procedure fails.
