Child Booster Seats
Discussion
Just trying to establish what seating I might need for my forthcoming Cerbera purchase as my eldest daughter is already excited about it and wants to get in it straight away!
She is 2 and 8 months and although she is quite tall she's particularly large big (as she won't eat anything but Spaghetti!) so I think the booster seat and seat-belt adapter combination is best, I've go a Safety 1st adapter and just need the booster now.
Has anyone found a brand that fits particulary well?

TVR do their own one
IIRC there is one in the classifieds - think its the adaptable one (where you can take the back off and be left with the booster cushion)

How's the Chimaera selling going?

Yep, exactly. Here are the photos:
The seat is suitable from about 9 months to 12 years, according to the instructions - you have a front cushion across the child's lap until about the age of 3, then later on you can remove the back and just use the booster cushion.
This is our seat in the ad, feel free to mail me if you want to know more.
Sorry for the shameless plug.

Thanks SGirl, I'd actually forwarded the picture of yours to my wife a while back but hadn't realised it could do booster-only.
I'm also looking for a grey one (or will be...) where did your new one from?
However, I was hoping to get a standard booster, as for 4 or so months (when she's tall already) it seems a waste to splash out that much, especially as I've the wee one to consider who does need a full seat...
Shameless plug entirely OK

Good luck with your hunt for a grey seat - it's taken us best part of a year to find one!!
Found it on eBay after much persistence.
I'm afraid I don't know much about standard boosters - we bought the Cerb just after SBaby was born so we bought a seat for him as soon as we could. We thought it'd be worth the money if we could use it until he's 12.
I know Halfords do a booster cushion though, would it be worth having a look at one of those?

I presume the factory won't accept oodles of cash in exchange for one then? SGirl said:Can understand that, we've got four car seats already, the last one of which is a seat/booster combo, which makes sense now they're older...

I'm just baulking at paying for a seat where I'll only use the bottom booster bit and leave the rest in the garage... After all a booster seat is just £20!
I'm planning to try the other seats for mini me, to see which will fit her best (we've a Britax Renaisance, 2 x 1st Class and a Duo) if that doesn't work then she'll probably be treated to a proper TVR seat (maybe even Magnolia if I have no luck!).

They don't do these seats any more.
Just Recaros, if you've got about £300 to spare.

Good point...
But then again, if your littlie isn't 3 yet you'll be using the seat back for a few years before switching to just the booster. I can't remember how long the instructions said you should use the seat back, I think it might've been to age 7 or something?? I can check if you're interested.
Just spoken to my man at the local dealer who's looking into it, said the same thing about the Recarro seats, however he's going to see if they have any seats lying around, as they always ordered the seat whether the customer needed it or not, so must have a cache somewhere....
It turns out the reason they don't sell the seats is that the lady who did them has gone now!
Do the Reccaro seats need the mounting bracket you use for the standard seat?

No idea I'm afraid. As soon as I heard "£300" I made my excuses and hung up PDQ.
Mind you the standard Recarro seats at Halfords are overpriced compared to Britax ones and I'm not keen on their design either, so have always stuff to Britax.
There was a European website that tested seats and reviewed them but I can't find it right now, but there is this US one here

£300? You are having a laugh. I bought one direct from them for £170.Delivered free next day! It's a Recaro Start and comes in various colour combinations and sits directly on the rear seat of the Cerb. It adjusts for height and width and also converts to a booster cushion for later years. It needs the bolster ad on cushion until your dearly beloved rugrat is about 18 months old.

They are the importers/agents for Recaro in the UK.
If you want I'll post some photo's of the seat in the Cerb when I get home later.

All the seats listed are the Recaro Start, the pro is the bolster cushion as well. Different prices only because of different material/colour combinations. The actual seats are all the same spec.
Cool adaptor to plug a CD player into the seat which has speakers in the wrap around head part - so you don't have to have Greatest hits of the Fimbles playing through the car system!

Don't mind the Fimbles Greatest Hits, in fact I might even fit an amp and a sub for playing them loud at McDonalds!!!

I have a TVR child seat, it came with the car. The car originally came from James Agger to the owner before me Julian Marshall, he sold to me, with said child seat and was hyped up to me as the child seat suitable to my childa age, but it has the lap bit missing, so dont buy second hand without checking all the parts are there, by the way if you are reading this Julian, thanks for getting back to me and thanks for selling me the seat!!
