Need to replace my rear tyres, currently running 888's 265/35's on Spider wheels. Has anyone tried the Federals?

The Federal 595s are more akin to the Toyo R1Rs. the Federal FZ201s are their equivalent to the R888s. I use the FZ201s on my track wheels and think they are really good.

Thanks Graham. Are you using 265 or 255? I'd really like to keep the extra width if possible, but the 888's don't have a square shoulder so they don't foul..

888s are square shouldered compared to road tyres.

Would love to Peter, car was fixed but gearbox has gone again. Had to drive back from Spa without 3rd gear.

I run 255 all round, backs are fine but the fronts do rub slightly. Th 201FZs seem to be 1-2 cm wider than the R888s.

Feds are Ok, 888's are my fave, but i have just got some 265/18 R1r's to try out. I will be fitting them after i come back from honeymoon next Thursday, along with a new MOT/Tax/Insurance!!! frown

Yokohama AD-08 are worth a look if you want something with a bit more water clearance on the road. Very quiet, very firm side walls which gives a really direct feel and high levels of grip as well.

Just bear in mind that the semi slick/fast road tyres are quite a bit wider than road tyres. The 255 35 18 profile AD-08 are quite a bit wider than the same size T1R they replaced (probably 20mm wider!).

The cheapest i can find AD-08s is £220 each, the Federals are currently at £135 each. Seeing as wifey managed to see off the 888's in 350 miles they seem like they are worth a punt!

DB4-are those 265s or 255s?

Driver error probably wink
It must have taken the marshals a while to dig the poor driver out of the gravel

I have heard of quite a few cases of the tread splitting on the Federals.. Some say it is no issue, but not sure I'd be happy!!

I've had 4 TDs on my 2nd set of triple 8's, (trying out the aggressive style of driving smile) and 9 TDs, (including 2 wet) + road miles + a ring trip on my last set.

It's all about driving style.
