Unidentified pipe?

Anyone know what this hydraulic pipe is sprouting from the gearbox, and is it supposed to be connected to anything:

is that an Act carbon airbox backplate i see with short ram induction?

Nice and tidy under there!

Yeah, short induction and the airboxes have got carbon effect wrapping on them but can't vouch for there origin as they were on when I bought it.

Isn't that the standard finish on circa 98 to 99 air boxes?

Yes on the airbox, i have a 99 with the same airbox. On mine however the back plate is just black fibreglass. (the bit that screws on to the airbox and attaches to the silicone induction tube)
