Sorry to see this, the chocolate spiders strike again.

Hope you got a photo of the said canyon? Claim on the council.

No, its about 20 mins away from me and I've not had the chance to go back yet. Is is realistic to be able to claim from the council?

Not sure what the outcome would be but let us all know how you get on. One thing for sure it will be a long winded affair so you debate if its worth the hassle.

Not good that the spiders are so soft. I live in Kirklees and I'm sure there are smoother roads in a war zone.

I dropped it off at Wheel Works in Crawley Sat morning, they reckon it should be fixable for about £40 which was a pleasant shock, the verdict is due later today.
I'd happily change all the wheels but I've never seen anything that looks as good as the spiders so far and I really don't like SP12's. Ho hum.

Yes. I know two people who have done so local to myself and the council coughed up each time with little or no resistance.

I've successfully claimed (albeit for the cost of a replacement tyre, not wheel) from a county council. I supplied a time, date, location and photo of the offending hole, plus a photo of the damage to my tyre. They requested 2 quotes and was all sorted fairly quickly. I noticed that the pothole was repaired the day after I contacted them!

Feck, went to pick up my wheel and its scrap frown
The guy at wheel works showed me it spinning on the balancing machine minus tyre, the whole wheel is twisted around the hub, nightmare.
I'm taking the other front in tomorrow to get it checked out just in case, I don't want to order one only to find the other is damaged as well.
TVR Power sell the Spiders for £145 +vat, anywhere cheaper?

Bugger thats not good news.

Have you chased the council yet. At £150 a corner it sound like it would be worth looking into it

Get a photo, get the quotes and take it to the council. You pay a tax for the road to be in condition to drive on. Not hide in.

Tvr breakers must have spiders but from what I've seen I doubt they are any cheaper than new but worth a call

I had a spider which I gave to a well thought of wheel refurbisher. The short answer was that the wheel was written off because when trying to correct the wheel they didn't take into account the weak way the spokes support the rim. Hence banging on the opposite rim caused the wheel to twist on the spokes.

When I went back the chap showed me the wheel had twisted on the spoke and said it was unrepairable. I sucked it up, but in reality I suspect he wrote the wheel off.

At £145 + VAT I would buy a new wheel, it's not expensive and why risk a secondhand wheel for not much less.

I just cracked an inner rim on my 3 piece down a pothole, £200 just for that bit of alloy!

Bit difficult to prove that one I guess.
I've bought a new wheel and had it delivered to the wheel place that has my tyre, hope to pick it up this weekend just in time for the end of the warm weather frown
I've searched for different wheel options but can't find anything that IMHO looks as good as the spiders.
I've also tried to put a claim in to the council, will see how far I get.
