Door / window problem

Hi guys,

For some reason, I can't open my Cerbera using the remote anymore (I have to open it manually), nor can I open the windows once I'm inside.

It seems that the indicators don't work either (i.e. light is on but not flashing). Also, the alarm system seems to be dis-activated.

I checked the fuses and they all work fine.

My best guess is that one of the electrical connections and/or the switches have been damaged by the water -as it rained hard a couple of weeks ago.

Any ideas welcome...

Is boot wet or drivers footwell wet ?

First job would be connections on control box in boot then all connections in doors as they really suffer in rain especially if you haven't done them yet ? Get some good quality electrical contact cleaner and some silicone grease for keeping moisture off connections once back together.

Could be a combination of a couple of things, I've not had any alarm issues but window problem I've just sorted

thanks. The boot is a bit wet indeed, so it might actually be one of the switches that needs to be changed. Any ideas which one is connected to the windows?

If you pull it off the top of the tank only held on with Velcro they should say what it is on top.

Yep it will be labelled on the top, careful when pushing connections back in as they can push inside the box just remove lid and support the board as you push back in.

If boot is wet i'd do them all while in there with some good contact cleaner. Any signs of corrosion on fuse board ? I believe there is an indicator and hazards control box under dashboard ( Access from footwell ) check that one to

the fuse box seems to be ok. I'll check the indicator /hazards control box....

It's labelled windows/lock control module, on the right (stood at the back of the car) on top of the tank.

When you say you can't open it on the remote, do you mean it won't unlock or that the mirror buttons won't work? The indicators are tied in to the immobiliser/alarm so they flash when it is armed and disarmed, so the combination of not unlocking and indicators would make me think it is a problem with the alarm or immobiliser rather than the door control box.

Do you have the original Meta alarm or an after market one?

I mean that the mirror button won't work, so I suppose you're right, the problem may have something to do with the alarm -which is the original Meta

The alarm is obviously working as the immobiliser is disengaging allowing the engine to start, yet the windows still don't operate; sounds more like a wiring/control unit issue....

Or the lock relay in the alarm giving up the ghost... The immobiliser is a separate unit to the alarm and has nothing to do with the doors. A wiring issue may well stop the mirror button from opening the door but would have no effect on the indicators. Most likely the alarm is failing.

Yes the immobiliser is a seperate unit, but what I meant was the alarm is clearly functioning to a degree as it is sending a signal to the immobilser to disengage. I had poor contacts in the lower left plug of the lock control unit that caused this very issue. It also lost window operation.

I don't know much (and this wont help with your indicators) but pull the door card off and clean/dry/replace the connectors in the door. Its was about the only bit of DIY I could manage....until I got a professional to rewire the bloody lot lol

Do any of the door/window functions work either from inside or out?

Check the fuse that feeds the control unit, fuse 6, 15a. If this is OK check the feeds at the control box. You will find 4 plugs, one has only two wires, a red and a black. This is the control unit power source.

My control box is nearest the fuel tank sender - clearly marked

You can check all the functions of the doors/window switches from that ecu in the boot if you have a multimeter. I would always suggest doing this first to pinpoint what is/isn't working before you start taking off door cards to clean connectors which may work perfectly well.

I produced a list of all the functions and readings for each pin a few years ago when I had some door/window issues - I will see if I can find the files anywhere.
