Don't think so start-up When I lock The car alarm goes straight off And if I take the battery off the alarm goes straight off
And you'd be amazed how long the alarm goes off without a battery on

Siren backup battery falling potentially. Does the siren ever chirp i.e a short pulse of noise? This is a warning sign, you'll need a new one in the future.

Goes off for about five seconds At a time Totally different to the alarm
Where is the location of the battery backup Is it in the alarm itself

battery pack will almost certainly be inside the siren. It stops thieves cutting the wires to the siren to stop it. does the alarm respond to the remote ?

If its responding to the remote but the siren is still going off it probably the siren itself as the battery backup pack will sound the siren. not a lot you can do if its faulty other than replace it. Try disconnecting the car battery for 5mins and see if the system recovers.

Its the siren you need to remove. Stick it in a bucket of water.
