Help! Where does this connect and what's it for?

I was just having a nose about under my bonnet and noticed a connecter floating around down the back of the engine.
The other end looks like it's screwed into the top of the bellhousing, just beneath the 100A fuse link.
Does anybody know what it does and what it connects too? Also, shouldn't there be a pipe connected to top of the fuel regulator? (I think its a fuel regulator)
I can't find anything!

I'm a bit worried about taking her out until I sort this.

I'm no expert, but is it one of those engine temp sensor's that kicks the fans in after engine has been switched off to help cool engine down ?

That looks like a sensor of some sort - personally never seen that before - but then again, normally everything in that area has heat shielding around the plastic flexipipes... maybe joo can help out - give him a ring in the morning...

Could be some sort of temp sensor. If my fans are running when I shut of engine, my fans stop too. Do yours continue running until the engine has cooled down then?

If it looks like a nipple at the end of a braided metal hose then it's probably the bleed nipple for your clutch. Nothing to worry about.

(I can't make out the end connection too well in the photo)

It has wires attached

yeh, you've got the clutch bleed pipe there and the pressure regulator on the back of the fuel rail .. all look perfectly normal to me

I asked exaclty the same question about the fuel pressure regulator when I got my Cerb

Thx guys... on closer inspection, it does indeed look like a bleed nipple.




Shouldn't it be attached to something though. I mean, why have a lock nut on the outer thread?
Think I'll make a bracket up and fix it somewhere. Don't like idea of loose bits flailing around my engine bay.

The bleed nipple actually screws into most of what you can see, this is quite a normal arrangement. It also makes bleeding the clutch easier as you don't need to get under the car.
Just ty-wrap it somewhere visible, as when it needs bleeding you can just put the end into a glass jar.
