The nightmare wiper box underneath the windscreen? Mine had had a replacement screen and I'm not sure if part that holds the wiper nuts has been bonded under it. I think the issue with my wipers is that the bolt at the end of the motor has come out of the black box, does anyone have a close up picture of theirs for comparison?

Shamelessly nicked from Ridds, hope you don't mind... This is what I need to do to mine...

Thanks.

As long as yours looks like this with all the wiper assembly on:

Then take the wiper arms off, then the big nuts at the base of their spindles, then remove the body coloured panel just below the windscreen, there should be a pop rivet each end jsut under the window rubber. That should expose the “black box” it’s actually just a cover, but to remove it you should find some rubber grommets, take them out & get a long extension on your socket (I forget what size) & loosen the bolts inside that go into the body just beneath the screen (you can just make out the bolt in Ridds pic). I think the black box has slots rarther than holes so you don’t need to take those bolts right out. Then just loosen or remover the clamp round the wiper motor, the wiper motor & black box should lift out as one.

The wiper assembly is basically the same as a classic mini, have a Google for pics of that to see what you are dealing with. You can’t just bolt a mini one in as they have different ratios, but I used most of the bits of a mini one to rebuild mine – even the motor windings!

^ You know how happy I am to hear that smile I'm quite an expert at removing the wiper motor these days, but the last time I put it back, I got too excited as the wiper motor moved the nuts, but as soon as I put the arms on, nothing moved. The battery started the car and had no issues driving, so I guess it wasn't lack of power.I think the nuts has come out of the black casing which seems to be sealed with some black gooey stuff! I'll order a new cable first, then see about pulling it to bits again. I can't get to the MOT without working wipers.

Thanks for the help
