GT Cup Brands Hatch 2nd Of June
Discussion
Hi Guys,
We will be racing at Brands Hatch this Sunday in the GT Cup. We will be running in the top class so up against all of the modern GT3 race cars.
The car has been specially mapped to suit the track and we are putting everything into this meeting. We're definitely slower on paper than the competition but that has never stopped us before!
With over 20 big GT cars confirmed to be there it will certainly be entertaining around the Indy track!
Would be great to have some TVR support there!
Cheers
Mike

Hi all!
Well what can i say....
Qualifying went well apart from being constanly slowed up by slower cars. Only managed a best of 48.1 where as my theoretical was a 46.9, Just shows how much traffic can make a difference around the indy track! That time put us second on the grid behind the 458 Ferrarl and infront of the mosler and the daytona prototype Rilley.
The car is set up and tested on dunlop tyres and we really struggled to get the best out of the Pirreli's you have to use in GT Cup.
Race one started as expected with the mosler and its 700bhp getting infront of me on the rolling start. It took a few laps for the tyres to come up to pressure but then i started closing in on the mosler. After a bit of contact and a little rubbing i manged to pass him. I then had to defend like crazy as he caught me on the straights and under acceleration. With 4 laps to ge the mosler had dropped back to an almost comfortable 4 second gap..... then a backmarker didnt see me and just turned in on me... The impact was big and pretty much ripped the front corner off. It bent the steering and damaged the suspension so we had to retire... Not happy! Certainly a race we should have won!
We managed to get it fixed up with some fibreglass and copious amounts of gaffa tape! Luckily we had the spares for the suspension so that was an easy fix. Although we didnt have time to re-align anything so realised that race 2 on old tyres and shot geometry was going to be difficult....
We were third on the grid and i got up to second passed the mosler on lap 3, i sat behing the Ferrari for a few laps and then bang! Lots of smoke and i went sliding off on my own oil.... Turns out somthing else broke from the earlier accident and ripped the oil cooler off! So another DNF from a very strong position!
A very frustrating and expensive weekend! Although great to be overtaking and beating that kind of machinery!
Here is the race one video. (the video stops as the camera was broken in the impact!)

Yeah, you've definitely got some talent there Mike - awesome driving for sure. It's great that you're out there mixing it up with £100k+ exotica such as LS7 Moslers and Ferrari 458 GT cars in a humble AJP Cerbera. Really shows the true racing pedigree of the Cerbera chassis and AJP8 combo
I really must make more of an effort to come and watch these races, but the youtube videos make up for it!

Such a shame though as you were running wellI missed the first race as we were err restocking !
