Hi Folks Ireland calling,
I am considering the leap from Audi TT (try not to laugh!) to Cerb. I have found a lovely 1999 4.2 V8 for €35,000 with only 22,000 miles. The outside is in perfect cond, the inside is a bit tatty but they are cleaning the leather up etc etc.
I need good down to earth honest advice on whether to do this or not. I have an inkling from the forums that these puppies are prone to problems.
Give it to me between the eyes ......
Can I expect this to be off the road a lot?
Is it gonna cost a fortune in mechanics bills?
What advice would you give for dealing with the dealer?
What sort of warranty should I look for?
What trouble should I look for in the car?
What history / works questions should I ask?
Remember there are probably only about 4 of these cars in the counrty!

Its a beautiful car, and unless you good plenty of finances flying around to pluck out of now and again... it would be a very very impractical and expensive ride...
most that go for these cars - just dont care, they buy it, and then later the take it on the chin....
and then sell it off before the costs outweigh the enjoyment...
I'd recommend a nice Griffith 500 - a newer one, especially over in Ireland - there are a few irish rover tuners over there who will be able to look after you very well...

i had the same fears as you about a year or so ago when i was buying mine.
Just coming up to a years ownership, i am calculating all associated costs of running the Cerbera etc etc and will be posting it on PH. Not yet got the exact details, but i have spent about £1.7k on forced garage bills (eg when something went wrong) plus the service and a few bits and pieces probably brings it up to around £2.2k.
I would estimate it has been 'off the road' for about 3 weeks in total.
However, all of the above pale into insignificance for the other 49 weeks of the year - it is an awesome car and i would recommend anyone take the plunge, providing they can sensibly cope with the above

Hi there, I'm in Ireland too, I've just paid deposit on my first Cerbera too - I'm just waiting to go and collect it from the UK.
I thought there was only one in Ireland - a 4.2, guy called Donal is selling it.
I expressed interest to him (he's a friend of a friend) but he never managed to bring it to show me, so I went elsewhere!
I think from my investigations that I'd want to be very sure of the service history of a car that's been in Ireland for a few years - as there are no dealers here. I think there's one in Northern Ireland though (?)

We took our Cerb to Southern Ireland earlier in the year along with various other TVRs. All were okay except the two Cerbs.
They were bottoming out the whole time on the roads.
To say these roads are not good is un understatement.
See Sprint feature article this month....that was us.

that was a completely different and very unfortunate problem.)
I must say I would love to go back and visit again, so I could concentrate on the beautiful scenery rather than what potholes we were just about to drop into, but..I would never take a Cerb to Southern Ireland again........Range Rover....
Are you boys North or South? because Southern Ireland now has an RO and region, formed as a result of our jaunt over there.
