Gents just about to give the old girl a checkover this weekend (whilst the slave driver is away !!) and couldnt find any info on what the minimum disc thickness should be on my 4.2 with 291mm discs.

Any info appreciated.

Usually it's a couple of mm less than the starting thickness. Have a look on the AP website for similar discs and see.

Should be cast into the face of the disc.

This is an extract from my disc thread ......

Hi Rog,

remember all those Beers I owe you for stickers - Well, I think I've earned a few back.

Mad Mark and I have been telephoning and EMailing the world to get the latest gen on this subject.

I just heard back from AP this morning and can say....
My Cerbera specification used caliper part # CP5200 with a disc of Ø322x30mm and separate mounting bell.
The supply of these parts changed to a 1-piece unit with integral bell in May 2001.
The current 1-piece disc/bell is # CP5335-102SD: - Ø322x30mm, cross drilled, none handed.
The spares market for these parts is handled by TVR Power. They have recently taken delivery of a batch.

Then I quote "TVR Power should also be able to advise you if it’s viable to mount a larger Ø330x30mm disc to your set up i.e. Ø330x30mm retaining the existing bell, they may have already done this conversion? TVR Power handle the clutch and brake market now and they being experts can usually answer the vast majority of TVR questions relating to APR components"

When I told APR that my disc was currently 27mm thick they said...Minimum thickness on a 30mm disc run in the CP5200 caliper is 28.5mm." so I now know why the rear end locked-up at Spa so many times hehe

Mark is ringing a Racing Components supplier today and they may be able to make an offer if there are a group of us ??

Hope that helps you to come to a decision.
I'm booked in for June 14 smile

Is it 4 or 6 bolt CP5200 as they are apparently different and the 4 can take a disk of 304 and 6 a disk of 330mm. This is only what I have been told, I have 4 bolt 5200's and haven't had chance to confirm or not. I also believe some disks were only 28mm when they were made?

Impossible to ask what was 'standard' for a '98 4.2 I guess ?

I found out today as it happens, that 5100's were fitted to the uprights that were recalled and had 291mm disks. On cars that had the uprights replaced, they may have been fitted with 5200 4 bolt and 304mm discs, but may have kept 291mm discs.
4.5's had the larger 322mm discs on either 6 bolt 5200's or 6600 (I think)
