Evening,

So spent the afternoon trying to get the f'n leaking oil cooler off - utter ba$3&*d!!!

Anyhow, having been unable to get the top bolt by the VIN plate off because the nut underneath isn't captive (!?!) I stripped the radiator off to get a spanner on it - which made no difference as the crap quality hex bolt stripped out, so ill have to drill it off... I digress... Having taken the main radiator off I find that my A/C radiator is toast, there are bits literally hanging off it and the top coupling has split off it. Needless to say the A/C wasn't working. So question - the A/C radiator provides protection for the main radiator, if I strip all the A/C off the car is there any alternative to protect the radiator? I think not all Cerbs had A/C, those that didn't, did they have an alternative way to protect the main rad?

Still haven't got the bloody oil cooler off eitherfurious

Been there done that...

I paid £120 for a new aircon condenser, and I haven't even been able to connect it up because one of my hoses is FUBARed.

But at least I have a brand new oil cooler and a brand new ac condenser, and a not too bad rad.

never seen a rad beeing protected if a/c is missing. however, if you want "protection" this is probably the best solution as mentioned above.

£150 to get mine rebuilt. I did it at the same time as having the Rad rebuilt. We;; I say rebuilt, I think just about every bit of it is new.

I got the aircondenser for under £100, but if that's knackered you will need the dryer at £30 ish too.
bear in mind the air con cools the fuel too, I found re gassing helped fuel vapourisation, there again heat wrapping fuel lines cured once and for all.

I would like to think that the aircon rad given its only £100 should protect my radtec alloy rad over the long term, having replaced both last year.

Aircon rad was falling apart from the bottom, and the rad was leaking.
