Alloy Oil Breather - Anyone fitted one?
Discussion
Hi All,
I'm getting fed up of being poisoned by oil from my leaky breather buring off on the driver's side manifold. I've looked into catch tanks but it all seems a bit of a faff, and I can see how the breather is meant to work but is let down by shoddy part quality.
Has anyone tried fitting one of these:

or

Seems like a quite a bit for a small part! But if it does the job....

Olly

Yep, I did this a long time ago. I just don't understand why more people don't do it, as the AJP8 is a relatively 'loose' race engine and generates quite a bit of blow-by. Dumping all of this continually into the drivers side bank isn't doing the engine any favours. Plus the stock breather is about the most shoddily engineered thing I've ever seen.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's a catch tank that then breathes to both intake plenums right?
I've read through this thread:

...and tend to agree with Julian's point of view. I'm not at all saying that fitting a catch tank is wrong - it obviously works well for you - but I can see that if it weren't for the leaky cup on the bottom of the intake box it would stand a chance of working as intended. I'm not loosing gallons of oil, it's only a smear on the F1 panel after a day, but it is enough to cause fumes in the cabin. A replacement upgrade part seems to be the easiest option for me as I'm currently limited by my own workshop facilities. I also like to keep my car as original as possible.

Thats understandable, plus most Cerbs still have the aircon pump where I've put my breather which makes location a bit of an issue.I've read through this thread:

I just feel that venting all of the crank gases and oil mist into just one bank is sub optimal for spirited driving. Improving breather capacity, and splitting the output evenly between both banks seemed like the ideal solution for me personally.
