Hi guys,

If your engine has had problems and it is under warranty (new engine), how long should the garage take to fix it?

Bare in mind they have told me they are very busy, but surely my warranty work should be priority?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Depends. In my view it depends what's wrong and who is fixing it.
Assuming its engine out and top end then there is only 1 place I would trust it to. Suspect he would prioritise warranty work and have it back in 3 - 4 weeks.
There are few garages really able to reliably build an ajp. So I guess anyone else might take a while. How longs a piece of string?

Most "GOOD" garages are busy at this time of year unfortunately , for example I just waited 5 weeks for my throttle body's to get refurbed, might as well have been an engine rebuild because my car was still of the road while I waited on them.
My full top and bottom engine rebuild in November was only 3 weeks as they were a lot quieter so I would be surprised if at this time of year it was returned wether you were a paying customer or a warranty customer in under 7 weeks bearing in mind how long it took me to get 6 throttle body's refurbed from a GOOD specialist.

Bloody hell and this is the perfect car you bought. My worry is why did it need engine work in such a low mileage car?

Car is great. Engine was rebuilt by str8six. Suddenly it came to a hault. Engine problem again - now it's been at str8six for around 4 weeks. They think they know what the issue is.

I hear good things abou them. So lets see.
I have asked for some upgrades at the same time, like exhaust, new steel pipes,
ECU upgrade and remap Etc.

I just miss the cerbera badly.

It's the war dog telling you not to tell people not to buy old cerbs as they break down lol. Starter motor and an engine in your perfect car doesn't bode well. wink

I'm sure it will be a cracking once again when it's sorted.

Either the crank or the flywheel has come off. Don't know exactly but the brand new engine has a 2 year warranty from str8six.

The car itself is absolutely mint. I just need str8six to sort this problem out.

One thing I can say though is that out of all the Tvr garages I have used, str8six have been very professional, honest, they did tell me it would take some time and they have kept me well informed. From what I hear as well, they are one of the best.

So I respect that. I just miss the car on weather like this.

Now I know why it was 5 weeks for my throttle bodies to get refurbed , they were working on your car!!
I know what you mean about missing the Cerb mine has been of the road for 8 weeks but back soon once I return from my holidays and get the bodies fitted.

Good luck Raj I'm sure you will be well looked after at Str8six.

George.

If a garage took two months to turn my warranty claim around I would want my warranty extended for at least a proportion of that period.

"Pops outside and starts engine, goes for little spin. Crank nose just fine" not bad for a 97 4.2... good thing I went for good car rather than age. : )

Mores the same herself doesn't do manuals... Aston here we come. Will be a sad day when the Cerb sells.

Anyway, best of luck Raj she's definitely in good hands.

I don't see why other customers paying out of their own pocket should be dropped and delayed because of unplanned warranty work - just as a matter of principle. I know everyone likes to think they're more important but the good garages have a backlog and I'd like to think that agreed completion dates aren't subject to the needs of someone else snapping their fingers.

Perhaps that's just me though.

Yep, agree....first in, first out is always the easiest way to deal with these things.

And Raj, Str8Six are very good to deal with.
