Hope its an easy fix, the problem is that when driving the car at any speed intermittently she will kind of misfire, this will cause the stereo to cut out and the dash lights etc almost like there is a temp cut in power. It happened a few times today on the run home from garage today first time it cut the power to the multi play in the boot.....then about ten minutes later it did it again and the multi player started again ......am I looking at the dreaded big fuse or am I way off biggrin.ps just had new leads fitted and I did have an issue with these on the way home from dealer....but he said they are ok now...think it was a loose lead.

I had something similar once not on a Cerbera, it was a thick power lead shorting out on a pully, whole car nearly went up in smoke.

However in this case I believe you should be looking at the earth points behind the dash, in the boot on top of the tank and under the bonnet.

A typical symptom of the big fuse is the rev counter gets erratic.

Rip out those puny Std earth leads from battery to chassis & engine & fit some nice chunky 35mm Tig welding cable with some good sturdy connectors on the ends & maybe delete the silly 100amp fuse.

PS........Spongy maybe its the cheesy CD's your playing biggrin

It will be back, and it's 99% the big fuse. Don't wait, it will pick its moment well.

Its not the big fuse. That is in the circuit between the alternator and the battery and the only effect of that failing is to stop the battery charging. Once the battery runs right down with the engine running you get the odd things line the rev counter jumping, but the big fuse cannot cause a sudden power failure.

A better bet might be a loose connection on the back of the silver key.

It could be the diode pack on the back of the alternator. Mine went on the way back from Le Mans one year.

One moment it was charging, the next draining. It caused erratic speedo and rev counter readings. Ie: 1500 rpm, speed of 50mph, but actually doing 80mph according to sat nav. As the engine speed dropped it started to cut out, so kept having to drop a cog and do one driving

Checking the 100 amp fuse is easy. Car key out. Multimeter on 20 volt scale, go to back of alternator, red probe to big terminal, black to earth. Can you find 12.7 volts? If you can, the fuse is fine. Then get the wife/girlfriend/friend/child to start the car while you hold the multimeter leads. 13.5 to 14.5 volts in the same place? Alternator probably fine too.

I had a problem on mine were all the power to the car would go, then after a while would come back. All lights, indicators and even the clock. Eventually found it was another fuse, same as the 100amp big fuse but 40amp, with a loose terminal. It is hidden away in the passenger footwell, where your left knee would be.
