MOT in half hour, just finished putting the Cats back in, adjusted handbrake, and noticed my oil line rubbing on the bell housing so added some silicon hose around to stop it for now.

Wish me luck.

You don't need luck with your level of engineering skills, I am sure everything will be as tight as a drum.

Handbrake adjustment can only really be done at the drum. There is better adjustment at the cables but given the exhausts and heat shield are in the way not possible.

I find release handbrake. Through the inspection hole in the disk adjust the adjuster until disk locks. Hit with hammer the around drum then repeat. Then back off one click. Should give a an alright bite.

Still a nervous time. Already been asked where's the door release and how do you open bonnet.

Never noticed how much deeper the exhaust sound is with the cats in. Don't want to keep them in but loving the bass.

What are my options?

Passed. Failed emissions. But once the proper specs of the car put in passed.

Handbrake advisory which isn't a surprise. But have a plan for that. Long term fix maybe

well i think i have come up with a long term fix/modification for the handbrake, should work well, not require major work and should only cost around £200.

Will do a proper thread when i have got what i need, with a possible group buy should others want to.

I know from previous experience that the handbrake can be adjusted correct and work, but the work required with removing the exhausts, and heat shield for is too much to get to the adjusters, and adjusting at the drum isn't the greatest.

SO hopefully will have some thing together end of the week.

You don't need to remove anything to get to the handbrake adjuster. If you lie under the back of the car and put your arm directly up just in front of the drivers side driveshaft by the diff you can reach it without too much difficulty. Its just a case of finding the right angle, but there is a gap you can get an arm through.

Will be very interested in this.......at MOT time I took the rear discs off, cleaned up the braking surfaces and adjusted, but even then I had to rely on a bit of discretion from the nice MOT tester to decide that there was the required 16% braking efficiency.
