The ls2 i have has 450 hp and 600Nm of torque. Until now it handled this, but i must say that it has hardly done any miles due to constant problems with the engineconversion i have. It shifts perfectly and they say it should handle this power. For me it is just that I want the original flywheel, clutch and gearbox behind the ls2. In my opinion it is better and i loose the ap clutch, custom flywheel, startermotor and questioned slave. Advantage ofthe T5 is the weight and it is compact.
also if you're not already then use Castrol Syntrans 75W90 (was called SMX-S)gear oil as the ATF doesn't help the box at all
as there's no bearing under 5th gear and it just relies on metal to metal and the oil film
the only downside to the 75W90 is a cold gearshift is a little stiffer but once its warm the shift quality is superior to ATF

Cerbera's run the T5 World Class box...as there's no bearing under 5th gear and it just relies on metal to metal and the oil film

Do NOT use anything other than ATF in a T5 World Class - you will destroy the synchro cones.as there's no bearing under 5th gear and it just relies on metal to metal and the oil film

A truth or a lie???I keep hearing this warning, but why would syncro cones be destroyed by using an alternative "synthetic" oil product, as opposed to Synthetic ATF??
Do you really mean destroyed? Why would Borg Warner build a box, one of a series of similar boxes and if another "other" transmission fluid was used it would destroy the syncro?
What will synthetic gear oil, transmission oil, or any other synthetic product do to the cones that ATF must be used?
Really not having a go, I just wish to understand the issue please, having had a Tamora for 11-months and not using Synth ATF - without an issue.....yet?????

The warning is directly from the Borg Warner technical manual for the T5 World Class. The synchro cones have a friction material lining that the manufacturer says will be damaged by anything other than ATF. Secondarily the oil ways that feed the synchro dogs are designed for a low viscosity fluid and a traditional gear oil will not be able to provide adequate lubrication. Again this in the manufacturers information. Borg Warner designed a gearbox to use ATF and told you that is what it is designed to use, so just use whatever the f
k you like. Its your gearbox.Tanguero said:

I wasn't having a go - Truth or Lie was aginst the statement, not the author? Don't take it so personaly? The warning is directly from the Borg Warner technical manual for the T5 World Class.
