Has anyone got a youtube vid of a 4.5 with decat and the newer type ACT sports system, the one with six silencers? (2 cherry bomb style, 2 in the rear pipes and 2 on the tail)
Or the same but with the new ACT quiet system?
Or, is anyone near'ish to Gatwick area that's around this weekend that could give me a passenger ride to hear one of these?

Thanks

I have bog standard cerbera exhaust system with a brand new original back box.

I decatted the car on Sunday.

It's now like a WW2 spitfire through tunnels but surprisingly sedate when cruising.

I would say that, from my short test drive, decatting a standard exhaust only makes a difference when you press on. Which is the perfect combination?

(gearbox gave up on the way home from the maiden de-cat voyage though!)

ETA: the pops and bangs are higher pitched as well. more like snaps and crackkles for want of a better expression. which stands to reason considering the cats are gone.

I only decatted so I could reduce up-hill, bumper to bumper summer traffic jam heat as it was melting slave cylinder seals.

I'm running the full ACT decat system and it sounds great IMO nice deep tone and not loud when cruising, but when you put your foot down she howls smile

Great setup that I'm real pleased with

Tang Soo Tim, What have you got from front to back and how is it on longer journeys/m'ways?

Yep, sounds great but I think that could be too loud for my liking (or for SWMBO). What is that system from front to back? Did you have to pass a noise check to get on track?

I'm really torn on what to buy, My manifold was welded 2 years ago and has gone again so I'm buying an ACT one, my back box is on its way out so that needs to go too, so I'm basically in for a complete system. The question is, if I'm about to empty the piggy bank on a complete system, do I go the extra few hundred quid for the perf manifold on what is otherwise a standard car (a 4.5 with a 4.2 induction which is presumably limiting breathing more than the exhaust?) The matched primaries all makes sense but if I'm unlikely to go in for other mods at a later date am I just spending money for the sake of it?
Then, will the decat plus a sports exhaust make it too loud for a long journey. It's been over 2 years since I've been in another Cerb so I don't remember the noise difference.
I need to make a decision quickly as I'm off on holiday and want to get it ordered so its ready to be fitted on my return.
I had a good chat with Tim @ ACT last week but without hearing other cars I'm concerned I'm either going to quiet or too noisy. Argh, I'm such a pillock and can't make a decision!

The system is full ACT, balanced headers and then the 3inch sports system.

I can do 105dB track days with an extra set of track cans fitted but I am now really looking to make the old girl a bit quieter, she really is proper loud but I was having problems with the drive by at Goodwood a week or so ago and was having to lift as I went passed the tesing points, the drive by there is set at 101dB and I was just over by a fraction.

The problem is I don't want to lose any of the theatre that the system helps to instill in the car, she really is bonkers and teh pops and bangs are just great.

I have been thinking about trying Vortex to see what they can do.

I've got the sports exhaust from TVR Power. Can anyone tell me how it differs from the ACT Sports exhaust as they look very similar?

I think I have the CATS in, although I have a pair of de-catted cats which I'm going to fit at some point. Anyone running this setup?

Mine is quite loud at the moment, and pops and bangs quite a bit too so Im not sure on decatting.

Is it an easy job to do?

De-catting is as easy as unboltinmg the original cats and bolting a replacement pipe in its place that simple.

Jhonno, thanks, bit tricky to work out how loud that is but I guess that’s going to be on the high side as the TVR power sports exhaust looks like the older ACT sports system (are TVR power just reselling the ACT system?)

Gruffalo, So that answers the question on is it too loud, thanks. Do you have the silenced mid section or just straight pipes and only 1 silencer in each tail?

stye video, from my lads camera phone a few years ago (blimey 5 years ago!!), listen as it pulls away for a completely different Cerbera engine sound.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwDtNnoIo-M

ACT manifolds, cheery bomb decat, large bore center and rear with siliencers in the rear only.

Thanks all, I had a long chat with Tim and decided to go for the standard manifolds and the quiet big bore rear box. If I think its too quiet I can always go to the sports tails, at least this way I know I can get onto a track without faffing with extra silencers if I choose to do so.

Six silencers in total, she reads about 116dB at a meter from the middle of the car at 4500RPM.

Just been out in her this afternoon, had me grinning from ear to ear, cruising at motorway speeds you can comfortably hold a conversation inside the car but gets loud over 4K RPM.

Old photo but I have this system on my car

106db decatted at 4500 revs (1m, 45 degrees type measurement) and I have the ACT manifolds.
