OK - here's one for the usual guru's...

My windscreen wipers often run a little dodgy and get stuck. Sometime I give them a push and they're OK. Yesterday my washer reservoir ran out - I've not had a chance to look at it yet (this is probably irrelevant). This morning I went to switch them from intermittent to regular and they stopped, nothing.

Then I noticed I had no indicators. I stopped, checked the fuses, they are OK, so I still have brake lights. The wierd bit is I also don't have full beam ...

I guess there's a bad connection, or maybe some switch - could the wiper motor have gone and taken something else with it ?

Thanks for your time chaps

sounds like the ribbon cable which connects the switches on your wheel.

Sounds like your steering wheel ECU. This is the unit that controls all the functions of the buttons and stalk.

The unit is on top of the steering shaft, just above your knees really! Held in place with cable ties. Unplug it and remove the cover, see it there is any signs of burning or shorting, if not put it back together, connect it up and see if it works, may have just needed resetting. If it doesn’t work then see if you can pinch one from another Cerb to try out, if you can, and it still doesn’t work, then it has to be the ribbon cable that connects the buttons to the ECU.

If it’s the box you’re looking at £90, new, if it’s the cable then you’re looking at about £10.

that sounds sensible advice to me.

I noticed that the wiper fuse also does the steering ecu, so that makes sense.

Cheers

Unlikely to be your ribbon cable because although its a familiar wear item, its not impliated in your indicator stalk problem.

I think its very likely to be a common earth problem with you ECU as pointed out earlier.

Would not a common earth fault not cause all the systems to go together???

Mine used to do this occasionally. It responded well to the 'turn off, leave for the count of 5 then back on again' technique. Having said that, it hasn't done it for 2 years. Ah, TVR's...

No idea. Its very difficult to tell, but obviously suggests your indicators are a co-incidence.

I personally don't believe in co-incidence

hmmm

thanks for that ....

well The ecu that controls the steering wheel and the wipers share the same fuse, which was blowing ...

I'm gonna check it out, but the garage said the motor was causing it to short .... I'm not so sure...
