The bearing is from a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The bolt through the centre is in place of the drvieshaft and so keeps the two halves of the bearing together. Yes, the nut and bolt need tightning up and use loctite and/or a new nyloc nut.

So, what is the rear wheel bearing from? Try to find out for some weeks. It´s not Ford, it´s not Vauxhall and just came back from Chrysler this morning without results.

Oh Dear,
I Can`t get away from Chrysler...

If the bearing is from a Jeep G.C. I will no doubt be replacing them soon, and Chrysler will not honour the waranty because the motor has been modded to run LPG !!

My GC spends more time at the dealers than the Cerb, and every time I pull them on waranty, they try to decline because of the LPG conversion. ( like the front diff, steering column, center consol heated seats,)

The only good thing about the place is taking the P**s out of their Crossfire whilst waiting to collect the Jeep, ( Clarkson was right, they really do look like a dog having a S***)

As my Jeep GC needs a front wheel bearing, can you get them from anywhere other than a dealer? The Handbook say's you need special Jeep tools to change them so would presume the Cerb will need them too.

BTW, my Jeep hasn't been a spot of bother. Since buying it at 70,000 miles I've only had the cat rattle (changed for £120) and now the front wheel bearing at 121,600 miles.

Seems like they don`t make GC`s like they used to... judging by the disgruntled owners that seem to line up most times I am at the dealers, ( Shuddering brakes also seem to be a favourite, cured on mine by fitting "Brake Components" pattern disks, and Mintex pads.

The good news today is that the leaking front diff pinion seal has not been caused by the LPG conversion (!!) so its accepted as waranty............well how about that .....

A lot of the parts (bearings, disks, seals) are available from switched on Motor factors, so we should be O.K. for the Cerb front bearings. I will investigate.
