10.2k with an engine and box rebuild?!

Can't imagine it sticking about for long.. Even if it needs the chassis sorting!

[quote=C3BER]A perfect car arrives......every nut and bolt has been changed.....colour African parrot triple flip blue to black with sparkles.

No sale due to fecking half leather with mushy pea carpets and a curry stain on the passenger seat.

All I'm saying is don't be so hung up on a colourLights can be changed.

Mild Joke wink

Agreed - that's a very compelling price even if it needs chassis work done. Underpriced even?

I'd also agree about the headlights, but I don't think it would put me off the car overall. That said, it's unlikely I'd ever get round to restoring them to original and it would grate on me at times. Still, for the money, I'd be giving him a call.

Looks a lovely colour and a good example.

However, is a rebuild much of a selling point with an ajp compared to a speed six? Or is a new chassis/mechanical better provenance?

AJPs don't go bang so much but they are prone to inlet valves closing up and you run out of "thinness" you can apply to the shims to get the specified clearances, which needs remedial work to correct obviously. A new clutch and a gearbox rebuild is a very nice thing to have though.

How about this one with all the chassis work done aswell. I know the colour is not to everyone's liking , and l think unfortunately is the only thing that let's the car down,

Not every car has a Swiss cheese chassis. Having had my chassis inspected twice in 3 years I am reliably informed its as clean as a virgin's sausage wallet and if I was selling and a purchaser tried to chip me £3k "because it hadn't had a new chassis" I'd remove his man jewels with a rusty butter knife.

Same here Nick but I would not be so kind. Saying that I do now have a lovely new gearbox smile

Mike nothing wrong with advertising BUT everything wrong in trying to put down some else's car IMO

Hi

I asked the question for the benefit of prospective cerbera buyers who read this forum for research (and indeed didn't shamelessly link to my advert to remain objective). Anyone was welcome to disagree with a reasoned argument or better advice.

I notice no-one has answered it which tempts me to think I was correct, that an ajp rebuild isn't as much of a necessity compared to buying a speed six.

When I bought mine with the help of people from here I prioritised chassis and mechanical condition over and above mileage and any engine work.

Still, I guess I owe portzi a beer...
